It's so cold outside. By Sunday morning, there was at least an inch of snow on the ground. But, of course, my brothers and I just had to go outside because our friends back at Kimetsu wanted to do a secret Santa with us. I got Genya, so I browsed the supermarket shelves for something that he might like. He's the president of the shooting club. I don't know exactly what they do there, but apparently, it's kinda like the archery club, except with guns. Maybe I should get him a new gun... Wait, no, that's stupid. Why would a supermarket sell guns? But I couldn't really think about anything else.
One time, I asked my mom to sew a vest for him. It was a nice purple color. He hasn't taken it off since, even during warm weather. Maybe I should ask my mom to make something else for him. Now all I have to do is remember to ask her.
I didn't get anything from the store. My brothers hid what they got, but I didn't really pay any mind to them. I'm really craving some melon bread...
As we walked outside, snowflakes falling into our hair, I quickly picked up on the scent of freshly baked bread. There was a bakery nearby. I don't know how I didn't notice it before. Disregarding my brothers, I walked over to the bakery.
"Ugh! Y/N, stop running off from us!" Yui shouted as he followed after me, Mui right behind him.
I opened the door to the bakery and stepped in. It smelled so good, and it was so warm. No wonder there were so many people. I walked up to the counter and was met with a familiar face.
"Y/N-chan! I wasn't expecting to see you here!"
Amao gave me a gentle smile and tilted his head, his cheeks becoming rosy.
"How can I help you?"
"Um... Do you have melon bread?" I asked.
"Of course! How many would you like?"
Let's see... One for me... I should also get some for my brothers and parents.
"Mmm... Five, please."
He nodded and grabbed a brown bag from the counter. He got some tongs and started picking out some fluffy melon breads that were on display. He added six instead of five. I didn't tell him. He wrapped up the bag and handed it to me.
"It's on the house!" He said.
Free food is free food. I offered him a small smile and grabbed one of the melon breads.
"Thank you," I said before biting into it.
It's so good! Probably the best melon bread I've ever had.
"Do you like it?" He asked.
I nodded, taking another bite of it.
"Come again! I'll be happy to serve you any time!"
I gave him a small wave before leaving the bakery, where my brothers were waiting, obviously unamused.
"How much did you spend?" Yui huffed.
"None. They were free. Take one," I said, offering them the bag.
They both raised a brow but took one anyway. How nice of Amao! I continued munching on the melon bread as I made my way home, unbeknownst to the three pairs of eyes that watched me go.
