Two days until Christmas. We're going out to volunteer today. Every year, we go out to the nearby orphanage to make kids' days for Christmas. We already bought and wrapped a few toys for them a few days ago, so we were all set.

It was a farther walk than usual since Kimetsu is closer to the orphanage, but it was worth it. I don't necessarily like kids, but the thought of children not being able to have something as simple as toys for Christmas makes me sad.

We were there for a few hours. I've grown fond of many of the kids there. They're fun to be around, even if they sometimes get on my nerves. I was sitting outside with a little girl, teaching her how to make a paper airplane when I heard footsteps behind me. I looked up and, of all people, saw Ayato.

"Hm? I didn't expect to see you here, Ayato," I said.

He was silent for a moment before nodding.

"Yeah, I... I thought I'd try something new this year," he said, coming to sit next to me, "since when did you start volunteering."

"I've been doing it for years," I hummed, finishing the airplane and handing it to the little girl.

She giggled and ran off to show the other children who were outside. I watched them, my gaze more tender than usual. Ayato seemed to pick up on this.

"Do you like kids?" He asked.

"I mean... I don't hate them."

"... Would you ever want kids of your own?"

"... Maybe. If I find the right person. But I doubt it."

He looked at the children, seemingly deep in thought before standing back up.

"Well... I best get going."

I nodded, and he walked away. The little kids started running up to me, asking me to make them paper airplanes as well.

Ayato's breath was heavy as he leaned against the wall, trying to regain his composure.

"Kids..." He mumbled.

So many thoughts were running through his mind. But the most overwhelming one was the thought of Y/N being the mother of his children... Yes... His children... Not one of those bastards'.

A/N: Sorry for the short chapter 😞 I'm realizing that this book is probably going to be long, cuz I'm planning on making this go until the end of their school year 😭
