It took all the willpower in me not to kiss him last night; just what was wrong with me? I wondered as I sat in my car, flushed and disheartened. There was no changing his mind; he had already determined what to do in his mind; all I could do was sit and watch as what I had built crumbled like a sand house. " Mom, are you alright? " I heard Edna ask.

The fact that she had no idea what was going on yet made me delighted, as I knew she would blame herself like I currently did. "Yeah, I am alright, " I smiled.

"But you look tired, and you have bags under your eyes, and you have been coming home late and tired; you don't sleep at night either. Is something wrong with the company? Or are you sick? " she questioned. I sometimes hated the fact that she was smarter than most kids her age, as she got to notice what they wouldn't notice, and she never hesitated to question me on it.

I shook my head, "No baby, Mom is alright, I am just tired, but I will be fine, I have just been busy that's it, "

"Are... You sure? " she queried, raising a brow.

"Hm hm, thank you, " I said, kissing her forehead, " if you have any problem at school or if anyone says a rumor about you, don't hesitate to leave the place and your teacher call me so I can deal with it with the kids parents, don't try to deal with it yourself, worthless people are not worth your time, okay? "

" yes Mum, " she nodded, smiling.

"That's my girl, now hurry up before the gate is closed, " She nodded, alighting the car; it was the first time she had dropped her at school in three months.

"Have fun, " I added.

"Yes, Mom, bye." She waved at me and then headed to the gate. I watched her till she reached the gate of her school, hoping she didn't have a tough day at school as I would at the office. I closed my eyes and leaned back against the car seat; upon thinking of the words I was about to convey to my workers, a headache had built up in my head.

Mia would be angered once she finds out, which was why I sent her to China in the disguise of having an event I must attend there. I would be done before she realized what I had done. Letting in a deep breath, I opened my eyes and turned on the ignition of my car, hopeless and in tears.

No matter how hard it tried suppressing it, hatred burned in me for Mr Arman, I knew I was being a selfish bitch with that thought, yet I still couldn't help it. He was after all the reason for my headache and stress. Arriving at my company, I pulled over by the driveway and alighted from my car, for a few seconds there, I stared at the tall building standing before me, something I had never done since I acquired the building.

A shallow sigh escaped my lip, I looked away from the building and headed into my company. I went straight to my secretary's office, " morning ma'am, " she greeted, standing to her feet.

"Morning, how are you today? "

"Fine ma'am, "

"Good, " I nodded.

" do you need something ma'am? "

"Hm, " I bit my lip, " assemble the head of all departments to the conference room, I have an important announcement to make, "

"Ah, yes ma'am, right away, " Then she headed out of her office to execute my words. A few minutes later and she informed me that they had arrived and were waiting for me.

"Thank you, um... Go ahead, I will be there shortly, " I said, she nodded and left my office, I sat on my office chair contemplating if what I had intended to do was right, when I found myself doubting, I quickly stood to my feet and made my way to the conference room. I had my secretary contact the heads of all the departments in the company, so I could break the news to them, it seemed there was no way out.

When I arrived at the loud conference hall, they all quietened at the sight of me, to which i gave them a bright smile. "Hello everyone. " My voice echoed in the large conference hall to which I sighed. "I am well aware that some of you already know or have a hint of what I am about to say, as you all know, the current situation of the company is not the best and we are at the edge of bankruptcy, so.

"I wish to break this news to all of you before it-" my words we're interrupted by my secretary, who tapped me. I glance at her with my brow raised in annoyance, she only shook her head and whispered in my ear.

" your daughter is missing, "

"What? " I shouted, ready to question her the more till she gestured to the room and I realized where i was. Shakily, I turned back to the room, my lips quivering, " t-this meeting h-has been adjourned, " Was all I managed to utter before walking out, making the quiet hall bursted back into the former noisy state it had been before I walked in.

"What do you mean she is missing? " I demanded, the moment I was out the suffocating room to a more secluded one.

"Mrs Molly contacted me earlier that your daughter is missing, she stated that the school claims she did not attend today"

" no, that's impossible, I dropped her over myself, " I stated, frantic and in tears, just why couldn't I spend a day without all these drama?.

" contact her school, I need to have a talk with them," I said, searching for my car keys.

"My keys, where are they? " I shouted, searching more frantically.

"Here you go ma'am, " she handed me my keys in a hurry, I didn't have the time or thoughts to thank her, before bolting out the door. I had no idea how I arrived at her school alive, as my visions were blurred all through the time I spent driving to her school. We spent hours checking the CCTV cameras of the school and asking the teachers and student if they had seen her earlier that morning.

However, their responses were the same, they didn't see her, my heart broke, my tears spilled like a dam, where could she had gone. I contacted the police, they on the other hand spilled me the bullshit I didn't want to hear, she wasn't confirmed missing until 24 hours. If she wasn't missing then what happened to her, was she lost?

Ed was lost, my daughter was lost, those were the thoughts my head could muster as I sat on my front porch, incase she would return home. I prayed she was safe, as if anything happens to her, my life was over. "Please protect her, "
