Chapter 31| The woman by the grave.Stacey.
I packed my shower wet hair into a messy bun, a smile plastered on my face, though he wasn't meant to, given his hatred, Dyletto, like he wanted me to call him, had been quiet caring to me.It took me the next day to realize he was the one to have taken care of me the other day, till yesterday he was still nice to me, he made me and Ed dinner and breakfast then he would check up on me through the phone.
A knock sounded at my door, jerking me out of my reverie, "come in! " I yelled, not bothering to stand up as I lotioned my skin for bed, Mr Aman No, Dyletto was busy all day so he couldn't check up on me. I waited for Edna to say whatever she had to say yet she remained silent, "is something wrong baby? " I asked, feeling a little conscious as the gaze on me seemed different.
"Why are you quiet? " I asked, turning to the door, a gasp escaped my mouth when, instead of my baby girl Mr Aman stood by the door, looking at me. "M-mr Aman? " I covered my exposed chest, "w-why are you h-here? I thought y-you-"
"I changed my mind, " he breathed, still looking at me, his eyes traced my body and I flushed.
"Y-you should leave, i-i need to um... I need to , "He nodded and headed out, once he was out, I released a shaky breath, embarrassed to the core. After a shaky pep talk, I headed to the living room, where Mr no Dyletto and Edna were seated chatting like long time friends, I watched them until I was spotted.
"Mom! " Edna called, " are you okay? "Dyletto also turned to look at me, he said nothing as he watched me from head to toe, making me flush at the thought of earlier when he had seen me naked. Without a word, I sat beside Edna, I couldn't take my eyes off him as we ate dinner, I kept stealing glances at him over and over again till he caught me, he face remained stoic though I noticed the smugness in them.
Soon, Edna left for her room which left me having deal with Dyletto. "I will go wash the dishes, " I muttered, standing to my feet, he didn't respond and I was greatful he didn't, while I washed the dishes, he stood by the door, leaning against the door frame, everything inside me bubbled with anxiety.
I turned back, intending to say something, however my head collided with his chest, I lifted my gaze to his which was focused on something on my head, he lifted his hand and removed wools from my head, five to be precise, I had gotten them on my hair last night, I thought I had washed everything put during shower. "Thanks, " I breathed, which made him look at me, his intense gaze stayed on me, looking at me with hooded eyes.
"A-"my word caught in my throat as he leaned closer to me, his gaze on my lip, my heart beat turned erratic. our lips we're close, so close they would touch, that didn't happen though, as he diverted to my ear.
"Go on a date with me, " he said. "Tommorow night, " he added, bitting my ear.
"Okay, " i managed to say as his lips found my neck, which he nibbled on.
"Good, " he said as he stepped back, only then was I able to breathe properly. "I will pick you up by evening tommorow, have Edna stay with a friend, " he instructed. I couldn't give him a reply as his phone rang, " excuse me, " He then walked out of the kitchen.
"God, " I muttered, using the counter as support as my legs we're weak.
He soon returned" I have to go," he said, breathing heavily.
"Oh, okay, good night, " I tried my best to hide my disappointment, after I watched him leave, I left for Edna's room and cuddled her all night through.
...
I checked my phone for the tenth time that night as I waited for Dyletto's call or even a text, he had been the one to bail out on me yet he was not yet present. "Its 10 pm already, " I muttered, pacing in the living room, "he can't have bailed out on me can he? No he wouldn't "I bit my lip and sat down, unable to handle the truth, 10:, 11:, 12:, PM passed by painfully slowly yet he didn't arrive, he never came that night.
I couldn't be bothered to call him, having realized it must have been his plan all along.
...
"Come on Ed," I called, exiting my car, it was Ednard and Tomi's death anniversary, Edna and I visited them every year and this one wasn't an exception.
"I am coming Mom, " Ed replied, also exiting the car, when she managed to stand beside me, I held her hand and headed to the graveyard where the two slept.
"Hey sis, " I greeted with a shallow smile as I placed the chrysanthemums on her grave and A rose on Ednards, it had been my routine each year to bring them different flowers every year. "I brought you chrysanthemums this year, I hope you love them, and I hope you have been fine without me, of course you have, I miss you so much and I am sorry for being too busy to visit you, this year has just been hectic for me, but I promise you, I will be here to visit you by December, I promise
" and you Ednard, I hope you have been good to Your Mom, take care of her and I hope you love the flowers, good bye for now, " I stepped back, to allow Ed some time with them.
"Hey aunty, hey Ed, don't worry about Mom okay, I will take care of her and I will pray for her too, you see, " she leaned closer to the graves and whispered, " i had a deal with Jesus and I think our deal is about to happen, " she giggled, "I will tell you more the next time we come but for now, I have something for you, " she reached into her pocket and brought out a sheet of paper, which she placed on their graves.
After that we returned to the car, we were about to leave when Edna claimed to have forgotten something which made us return to their graves. When we arrived, we met a woman there, placing a flower on thier graves, I exchanged looks with Ed as we walked closer, Ed forgetting her flower in the car must have been for this reason. The woman turned to look at us, she frowned when she spotted me.
"Excuse me! Do I know you," I couldn't help but ask.
The woman squinted her eyes then she smiled, a shallow one, "you are Tomi's sister, " she stated. Her familiar voice reminded me of someone yet the fact that she knew my name was more thrilling."How do you know my name?" I deadpanned.
