Chapter 23| Lookalike.

Stacey.

God, how many time had I vomited in a day, five? Six? No Seven times, in just a day, my whole body hurt, it seem I was coming up with a migraine. Grimacing, I cleaned my mouth and flushed the foul liquid I had just gutted out of my body down the toilet. Holding my stomach, I headed into my room, barely able to keep my eyes open as I sunk into the comfort of the sheet.

Ed got discharged two days ago, she had no injury, she only fainted due to the shock, I couldn't be more than greatful to God that he protected my daughter from that evil mans ploy. She had only wanted to take her lunch that day, as she forgot it in the car, but before she could meet up with her tiny legs, I was long gone and she was met with an accident.

"Ugh, " I groaned once again, not able to comprehend how miserable my life had become since the moment that man returned in my life.

"Mum! " my baby called, shaking my shoulder as gentle as she did everytime I overslept.

"Yes, "I could barely make out the words coming out of my mouth.

"Are you alright? You are burning up! "

Shaking my head, I responded, " i-i am not alright, help me get Molly, "

"Okay, " I heard her say before her little feet pet-pattered the sparkly tiles of my room. I have no idea how long I slept till she returned, panic edged in her voice, "she is not home Mom, she must have gone to her house for the weekend, May gave birth two days ago, I forgot to tell you about it."

May? Who is May again? I scanned through my tired brain, trying to locate the part of it that had that memory. Wait! It's coming up.
I

t's coming up! And bingo! May was Molly's little sister who got pregnant after 15 years of praying and hoping for a baby. "Oh, that's great baby, I should congratulate her when I get better, "

"But what should I do Mum? You need help, " her panicked voice said once again.

"It's alright, Mom will be fine, " I told her, falling into the warm embrace of darkness. When my eyes opened once again, I was still in my room, though I had no idea why I felt better. Plopping myself up the bed, I groggily headed to the bathroom for a quick mouth wash, then to the living room to look for Ed. "Ed, where are you? Come over for breakfast, " I said, then I collided with the couch.

Ouch, that hurt. Whimpering, I limped to the couch at the other side, holding my leg. "Ed, can you hand me an icepack! " I asked, yet no response. "Ed? " no response. "Ed where are you? " no response once again. Jesus Christ, this girl was driving me nuts. "This is not funny Ed, " no response. "Edna Camelia Normans, come out right now or you won't like what I will do to you, " I found myself shouting this time around, yet I got no response.

Despite my unwell self, my anger was at the top, which got me searching every nook and cranny of my house till there was no where else to search. Yet Ed was no where to be found, I panicked, my migraine got worse, so did my headache, sneezing, I headed out the house. I was damn sure I had no slipper on, yet the thought of my daughter getting kidnapped once again just was the worse feeling ever. I had no idea where I was, while tears rolled down my face yet, I made to move to clean them as I searched frantically for my daughter.

It wasn't until a car almost ran me over and I fell to the floor with a scream, that I realized I had gotten to the road. "Are you alright?" A non feminine voice asked, though I couldn't see his face as my eyes were blurred with tears. "Do you need help? " I heard him ask again.

"My daughter, i-i need to f-find my baby, " Was all I could utter.

"Your baby? , you have a - are you looking for a child? "I didn't reply to the man, instead I tried getting up, he helped me up and took me to his car, all while asking questions I didn't reply to. Lost, I had no idea how he knew where i lived, as I found myself in front of my new mansion, which was empty, my baby, where was Ed? He must have thought I was mentally ill, as, when I saw my own appearance in my glass door, I was shocked to say the least.

My dishealved and matted hair which covered my whole face, I was bare footed and dressed in a night dress that was torn at the shoulder. How did that happen? I looked like an asylum runaway. "Are you sure you live here? "He asked again and I nodded.I heard the man release a sigh and an awkward 'okay' then he pressed the door bell.

It took two rings for the door to open and my baby girl stood right across me, tears in her eyes just like mine and when she spotted me, she ran to my arms. "Mom! Are you alright? Where did you go? I have been searching everywhere for you! " she chided, sniffling. I couldn't say a word as I felt relieved seeing her, i made a mental note to scold her when I got better, she couldn't keep on scaring me like that.

I couldn't take it.

The man who brought me home cleared his throat, "since she is your mother, that's fine, but I'd like to ask, if you have any other adults at home to take care of her? She does not seem to be well, "

Ed nodded, "I got someone to help me take her to the hospital, " I was about to ask her who it was when the person I least expected to see walked through the door, looking at me with his usual stoic expression. However, his face changed when he saw the man behind me, "D-" I didn't give him the chance to talk before walking over to him.

" what are you doing here? " I could barely contain my anger despite being sick

He turned to me. "Pardon?"

" I said why the hell  are you in my house? I" I questioned. Without waiting for him to speak, "get out, " I added, sniffling.

"Excuse me? "

"I said get out, you are not welcome in my house! " I was more than  tired of his bullshit, after the stunt he pulled days ago, intentional or not, he had no right to involve my daughter in his revenge ploy.

He went quiet, assessing me as I glared at him, sniffling like a crazy person, then he spoke, "you are not in the right condition to send a person out of your house, you need help," his voice was quiet, almost unheard.

"That. Is. None. Of your business," I fumed, ready to slap his head senseless.

"I think you guys should calm down, " the man who brought me home said. "What is going on here? " I snapped my head to him, ready to ask him to help me get the despicable man out of my house, when it strucked me, like lightening. The next thing I knew, was me hitting my head on the tile, screams from my daughter and the panicked voice of the two men I now realized looked like each other.

I was sure my head would bruise, though my main concern at the time was who that man was to Dyletto Aman. That was the thoughts occupying my mind as darkness engulfed me once again, shielding me away from reality and pain.
