The night sky was such a welcoming sight, appearing like magic at each sunset, promising to return as she faded in dawn's first light. I gazed at the stars from the balcony, it's a heavenly sight. Something about here makes them different, they shine more brightly maybe because it's night court.
Stars filled the sky like pale corn into freshly turned ground. It was the promise of life in the darkness, a sense of warmth springing from the cold. It was a vastness to bring humbleness and an eternal space to bring gratitude for the coziness of home.It was the moment her eyes smiled and her breathing deepen just a little. Amaya realised what she felt, warmth enveloped her. Her mind felt light, free from any burden, her body relaxed. Her hand went around her neck to touch the chain hanging from it. She looks at the pendant, the star filled crystal looks exactly like the sky above her. She kisses it softly. She didn't have much stuff but this little thing was her most important treasure.
During the dark days when she was caged in the cellar she would look at this pendant remembering the person who gave it to her. Recalling what she lost, to never forget about him. It helped her not to lose her mind.
A knock against the door, she goes to open it.
"Hey" cassian greets her.
"How are you doing. You have been in your room all day. You didn't join us so i brought your dinner here" he says.
I let him in. He keeps the dinner on the table before following me to the balcony. We stand there quietly for a while.
"That was awesome, what you did then" Cassian comments.
Raising a brow i ask "me knocking your high lord on his ass?"
He snorts "yeah exactly that. We were surprised. No one has ever took rhys by surprise. He is our strongest daemati. No one had ever invaded his mind till now"
"Daemati?"
"Yes, daemati are faes who have the ability to control and infiltrate another person's mind. Did you not know"
"I didn't know the term. I just called it mind manipulation abilities" i shrug.
"Oh"
"I had kept it secret from the king, if he knew he would have made me do worse than i did"
"What do you plan to do now? Have you thought about it?"
"I decided to stay here, i like this place. Don't worry i have no plans of ruling this court. I don't want any useless bloodshed anyway, i have had enough of that. I would like to spend the rest of my life peacefully from now on"
Cassian visibly relaxes "that's a wise decision"
"I will have to start looking for houses"
"For what?"
"If i am going to stay here, i would need a place to live" i state the obvious.
"You don't need to do that, rhys wouldn't mind letting you stay in his house"
"Exactly his house not mine. I want my own place. A home that belongs to me. I have never had a place to call mine, i want one"
Cassian understands what she meant.
"I will help you in your house hunting. Maybe seeing me with you they might give you a discount" he winks.I fake gasp "is this what is called pretty privilege?"
His eyes shines "do you think i am pretty?"
I shrug.
"First beautiful, now pretty. You give such nice compliments to a man who is known as lord of bloodshed" he teases.
I recall our first meet when i called him beautiful. I look at him, i didn't lie this man is insanely beautiful. He has this rugged harsh face but playful doe eyes and long black hair. His body is muscled and those huge membranous black wings that end in talons gives off a powerful aura. Even without knowing him i could tell he is a strong warrior. My face flushes when i get caught gawking at him. He sends me a smirk
"If you are done beholding me i will take my leave. I need my beauty sleep to maintain my beauty so that people can't take their eyes off me" he jokes.
I could feel my face turning red, i look away from him.
"Goodnight" i mumble.
"Goodnight amaya. Sweet dreams"
