Emily has been a little distant, or maybe busy lately. She usually initiated communication between us, but she barely texted me these days. I wonder if it's because graduation's approaching. Just two months left.
"Hey, bro!" Hannah threw herself on me for a hug.
Yes, my older sister was on campus to see me. She surprised me, but she'll finally be able to meet my friends. She met the twins before, but I don't remember her meeting Emily. So, I organized a little dinner outing for them all to meet properly. To meet the new Hannah.
"You're Emily, right? He told me just a little bit about you." Hannah smiled at Emily.
"Uh, okay." Emily looked down with what seemed to be a frown on her face. She didn't seem too happy.
"Hey, everyone." The twins came to our table holding hands. They sat next to Emily who was sitting across from me. We soon ordered while getting to know each other.
"Ooh, I love your hair, Hannah." Drew complimented her.
"Thanks, Drew. I'm finally going natural. And soon, I might start using head coverings. They're so cute!"
"Head coverings? I've always wanted to try them." Emily looked up at Hannah.
"We should, girl. There shouldn't be any shame in that."
"Facts." I said.
Emily looked at me and my sister. Then she gave a brief smile.
I wonder what's up with her. It's like she's not happy to see me or something. Have I done something?
"You two look cute together."
We all stared at Emily like she was an alien.
"Say what? Hold up." Hannah raised her hand.
"Emily, that's his sister." Gabe said.
"Oh. I thought that..." She didn't have to finish as Hannah started gagging.
"Eww. I love you, bro. But that's disgusting."
"Yeah. I told you we were meeting my sister, Emily." I reminded her.
"Yeah, she looks different from the picture I saw."
"Oh yeah, she became born-again, that's why."
"HalleluYAH, that's great!" Emily's smile grew bigger.
"Girl was jelly." Drew jokingly said.
"Shut up." She countered.
"Jealous? Of Hannah? Why?" I asked.
"Don't worry." Emily quickly said.
"Ooh, I see." Hannah raised an eyebrow.
Emily managed to turn even more redder. She likes to blush a lot. I'll admit it kinda makes her cuter.
"Ah, Jay you're such a dunce!" Hannah suddenly exclaimed.
I just looked at her confused. I don't understand my sister sometimes.
"But yeah, Hannah's my older sister. I'm sorry I wasn't clearer, Emily."
"That's fine." She replied before turning her attention to Hannah. "We should really get head coverings. I found a store around here that sells them, but I wanted to go in with another female, you know?"
"Yeah, I get it. We should definitely check it out before I leave."
"Here's your ice tea." The waitress refilled my cup.
"Thank you."
"Can I have a refill too?" Emily asked her.
"Of course."
