*Hope pov*
So, it's been about a week since Josh left and Faith is still in the hospital. I went and saw her the other day with Sherrie and she had high hopes. I just can't wait until her and Josh come home and everything goes back to how it was before... But better. It's been hard, to be honest. Just thinking about Faith sometimes hurts. But I push that aside. I've been hang out with Matt a lot after school too, but he has his own friends. We usually get coffee because who can live without coffee?
Mark and I have been doing good. It's gotten really serious which is fine, it's good. It kind of freaks me out though because he had some other relationships before me. What if he expects something from me? I don't know... It just feels like I'm doing everything wrong sometimes. But, a couple days ago we watched Netflix and got really drunk. It was fun.
Anyways... It's Friday, thank god. I'm excited to just go home, get in sweatpants and sit in front of the tv with a bowl of popcorn. That just sounds amazing.
I walked out of my fourth period class, my favourite time of the day because you get to go home. I walked to my locker and unlocked it, throwing all of my crap on the shelves. Mark came beside me with a smile.
"What?" I asked. "You have that look on your face and you want something, don't you?"
"No, I don't want anything..." He paused. "But I do want to know if you want to go to Wayne's party tonight." I groaned.
Wayne is a pretty cool guy. I met him a couple times but never actually talked to him.
"Do I have to? I wanted to just do nothing, to be honest."
"You don't have to but it would be really really fun." He said. I pouted and took his waist, pulling him forewords.
"How about you come over, we watch movies and eat popcorn." I smiled and pecked his lips.
"Aw, babe, c'mon. It'll be fun." He took my hand. "Please? You'd look super sexy-" I covered his mouth.
"In sweat pants in front of the TV." I finished his sentence and Mark whined.
"Fine. You win." I smiled.
"Wanna come over at four?" I asked.
"Sounds good." My smile widened and I gave him a kiss. "I'll see you then." I nodded and Mark left down the hall. I watched him walk away before grabbing my bag and shutting my locker door. I took out my phone as I walked down the hall. I scrolled through my contacts and called Matt.
"What do you want now?" Matt answered sarcastically.
"Oooh, ouch." He chuckled.
"What's up?"
"Wanna pick me up from school?" I asked.
"Depends... What's in it for me?"
"I'll buy you a coffee." There was silence for a moment.
"Deal. I'll be there in five." The line went dead and I smiled.
I waited outside for Matt until he pulled up into the parking lot. I jumped in his car, throwing my bag in the backseat.
"So, you owe me a coffee." He told me as he pulled out of the school's lot.
"Wow, you really need that coffee, don't you?"
"Oh, hell yea." He said.
"Your date didn't go too well last night with WhatsHerFace?"
"Coleen. But, um, no. It was not the greatest."
"Wanna talk about it?" I asked dramatically and touched his shoulder.
"I mean, it wasn't bad. It was... Fine. We went to a little ice cream shop, got a coffee and just talked. It wasn't awkward or anything but it just felt like a 'just friends' thing."
"Whoop, there it is." I mumbled.
"Don't get me wrong, she's pretty and all but there was nothing there." He paused. "AND THEN, AND THEN, GUESS WHAT!?" He didn't give me any time to guess. "I brought her back to her place and I was saying bye and I kissed her." I started laughing and he punched the side of the steering wheel. "I wanted to punch myself! And then I said we should do this again. It's like my brain flew away!" I kept laughing.
"Oh god, Matt."
"I know, I know." He pulled up to Tim Hortons and went through the drive-through. I reached back to my bag and grabbed the ten dollar bill from the front pocket and I gave it to Matt. He ordered our coffees, knowing exactly what I wanted. "But, yea, it was bad. And the worst part now is that I need to tell her that It won't work out." He passed me my coffee and parked in a parking spot.
"It'll be fine." I told him.
"It's not like I can tell her there's another girl or something. Or I can't lie." Matt told me.
"There's another girl?" I asked excitedly. "Who is she? What's her name? Do I know her!?"
"No." He said and took a sip of his coffee. "There's no one, I was just saying I shouldn't lie to her and say there's another girl."
"You're lying.. Who is she Matt? Whooooo is she?" He rolled his eyes.
"What about you and Mr. Amazing?" He asked, taking a sip of his coffee again and I laughed.
"Ha. Ha. We're fine."
"Ou, just fine? 'Fine' is the word you use when you're not fine."
"We're good."
"Mhmm."
"I know you don't like him but I do, ok?" I told him.
"Hey, I never said I didn't like him."
"Sure." I said sarcastically.
"But it's true. I don't like him." I chuckled.
"I can live with that." Matt smiled.
Matt and I drank our coffees and talked for a bit. It was nice. We've been doing it a lot. We've just been hanging out, getting coffee's... Things like that. It almost became a routine.
Matt drove me home.
"Hey, what're you doing tonight?" He asked as I opened the door to get out.
"I'm actually hanging with Mark tonight."
"Oh, fun, don't let me get in the way of that." I laughed and rolled my eyes as I grabbed my bag.
"I'll see you later."
"Tell Mark I said hi!" Matt told me, giving me a smile and I closed the car door without saying anything else.
I know Matt doesn't like Mark, he makes that perfectly clear. He always makes jokes about us and blah blah blah. Mark isn't that fond of Matt either. I don't get it, I don't understand why they hate each other so much. Is it my fault? Should I not have any guy friends? I think they're just being stupid.
I jumped up the steps to the front door and walked inside. I kicked off my shoes and headed upstairs where I changed into my sweatpants. I pulled them up and there was a knock on the door.
"Come in!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. I tied my sweat pants and heard the door open from downstairs.
"Hello?" Mark called.
"Hey! One sec!" I looked in the mirror and wiped the extra makeup from under my eyes and quickly brushed my hair with my fingers. I came downstairs and Mark dropped his bag near the coffee table in the living room.
"Hey babe." I smiled, and he gave me a little hug with a kiss.
"What you bring?" I asked.
"Couple drinks if we wanted any since we aren't going tonight."
"Are you trying to make me feel bad about not wanting to go?" I joked.
"Hey, I didn't say that." I sat down on the couch and grabbed the TV remote. Mark sat beside me and put his arm around me. I turned on the TV and started flipping through channels.
"What you wanna watch?" I asked and Mark leaned closer to me.
"Do we need to watch anything?" He whispered as he started kissing my neck. I laughed a bit and kept flicking through channels.
"Well, there's nothing else to do." I fibbed. Mark took the remote out of my hand and took the back of my neck, kissing my lips. I smiled as he kissed me and his hand took my waist. The front door opened and Mark jumped back to sitting beside me with his arm around me. I took the remote and returned to the TV.
"Hey." I called as I stopped on Much. Sherrie came in with a couple grocery bags.
"Oh, hey guys." She said.
"Hey, Sherrie." Mark said.
"You need help with those?" I asked.
"Oh, no, I'm good, thanks hun." She left to the kitchen with the grocery bags.
"No drinks?" Mark whispered in my ear.
"No drinks."
"Ok guys, I'm gonna go do some work in the basement." Sherrie told us.
"Alright."
I rested my head on Marks shoulder and he took my hand in his. Sherrie left to the basement to do some of her work.
Mark and I watched some TV for a bit and it was nice.
"Want some popcorn?" I asked.
"Sure." I pushed up from the couch and went to the kitchen. I grabbed a bag of popcorn out of the cupboard and threw it in the microwave. As it heated and popped, I grabbed a big bowl out of the cabinet. I looked at my phone as I waited.
'Having fun? - Matt'
I laughed a bit and didn't answer him.
The microwave beeped and I took the hot bag out, shook it a bit then poured the popcorn into the bowl.
"Here." I gave the popcorn to Mark and sat back down beside him.
"You know what would be great?"
"What?"
"If you came to the party tonight." He kissed me cheek and ate some popcorn. I groaned.
"But that means I need to get dressed and look good and... So much work."
"But it would be so much fun! You can meet my buddies."
"If I say ok will you stop harassing me?" He nodded with a smile. "Fine."
"Yaaaaay." Mark said softly.
"Mhmm." I took a handful of popcorn.
We watched TV then I got bored so I flicked through channels for at least 20 minutes. We ended up making fun of infomercials.
"Ok," Mark patted my leg. "I gotta go." He stood and I did too. "Parents want me home for dinner."
"Alright." I followed him to the front door where he put on his shoes.
"I'll see you later?"
"Yeaaa."
"I'll get you at eleven." I nodded and he smiled. I gave him a kiss before he left.
I shut the door and groaned a bit. I walked over to the stairwell to the basement.
"Is it ok if I go out tonight with Mark?" I called down to Sherrie
"Uh, sure. What time?" She called back.
"Um... Well, late." I paused. "Like eleven." It was silent for a moment and I heard Sherrie stand from her computer chair.
"Eleven?!" She yelled, a bit sarcastic-like as she walked up the stairs. I let her pass me and I followed her to the kitchen. "When would you be back?"
"Ok, the thing is, he's going to a party and he wants me to go."
"No, those things get crazy, and I know from experience." Sherrie opened the fridge and grabbed a can of pepsi.
"Aw, c'mon, it's just a couple of friends getting together." I lied and Sherrie glared at me. I think she heard the lie. "Fine. I won't go. Pretend I didn't say anything."
"Hope, what happened?" She asked and I was confused. "Before Mark you would never think about going to crazy parties like this or do all that sort of stuff. I have no clue what you two do in your free time and it terrifies me."
"Nothing is going on, I just want to go out tonight!"
"Well, the answer is no."
"Yea, I know. You didn't have to repeat yourself." Sherrie stared at me and I left to my room. I sighed and plopped myself on my bed with my phone in hand.
'Hey, sorry but I can't go tonight, not aloud - Hope'
'Aw, c'mon, just come with me, I'll bring you back early enough and Sherrie will never know! - Mark'
I smiled.
'Are you sure? - Hope'
'Yea babe, don't worry, I'll pick you up at 11 - Mark'
I didn't answer after that. He's right, who cares? I can do whatever I want. I'm old enough. I'll be back before Sherrie wakes up. It's fine. Sherrie goes to bed early anyways.
I stood up from my bed and went to my closet.
What to wear, what to wear...
-
Mark should be here soon, Sherrie is in bed... So plan is going good so far. I chose my outfit: tights and a grey baggy long sleeve shirt. But it's a nice shirt, not a sloppy one. I straightened my hair and did my makeup, just eyeliner and mascara. I stood in front of the mirror and pushed up the sleeves of my shirt. I pushed them down then back up. I'll keep them pushed up. I checked the clock, 10:54. I grabbed my phone and keys and stepped into the hallway. I closed my door as slowly as I could and tiptoed passed Sherries room.
When I got downstairs I put on my shoes and looked out the window. A car pulled up to the side of the street. I stepped outside and closed the door as slowly as I could.
I did it. I'm out. I'm good.
I walked to the car and as I got closer I could see two other guys in the backseat. I got in the front passenger seat and shut the door.
"Hey." I said to Mark.
"Hey babe." He leaned over and kissed my cheek.
"Hey, there's passengers back here." One of the guys said in the back.
"Hope this is Chris and Vic." Mark introduced me and I gave them a little wave and a smile. I'm not good when it comes to people.
"Hey!" I said happily. Chris's a pretty person. He's huge. He's tall and muscular. Really muscular. His face has a 5'oclock shadow. More like a 9'oclock shadow. Is that a thing? His eyes are a blue, more like a grey. His black hair was short and messy but it looked perfect at the same time. I can tell he's a ladies man. Vic's an average guy, not muscular, not big but not small either. His short light brown hair was put into a small mohawk and he had piercing green eyes. They're magical. He looked like a sweet guy.
Mark started driving.
"We need some music up in here." Chris announced and leaned forward, playing with the radio. He put on a rock alternative channel. Good choice. "There we go!" I laughed a little and Mark reached over and put his hand on the inside of my thigh.
"Hey, is Jean coming tonight?" Mark asked one of the guys in the back.
"Yea." Vic replied.
"Whoa, really, is she ok?" Chris asked sarcastically and Vic laughed. I guess she doesn't go out much. "So," Chris leaned foreword and looked at me. "How are yooou?"
"I'm good, and how are you?" I asked with a laugh.
"Good. How'd you two meet?"
"We were friends for a long while." Mark told him.
"Friends." He made quotations with his hands. "Got cha."
"Oh, shut up." Mark parked the car on the street and I'm assuming with all the cars and teenagers on the front lawn that it's the party.
The house is fucking massive. If I have kids and they have kids then they have kids, they could all live here. Ok... That might be over exaggerating, but still... This house is huge. The shrubs are perfectly cut, everything is painted perfectly with blacks, greys and some reds and flowers are planted in nice black pots. Can I live here?
We all got out of the car and Mark put his arm around my waist.
"Ok, so, to start off we have to do some shots, just to get the party started." Chris told us as we crossed the street. "Hey, Hope. Body shots?"
"Dude, you're freaking her out." Vic said and I laughed.
"Hey, Vic!" Someone called and we all turned. I could see Vic smile widely. I'm assuming that's Jean. She ran over and gave Vic a hug. She has a pixie cut hair style dyed red and she can absolutely pull it off with her small slim face. She has big brown eyes, a long nose and slim lips but she's beautiful.
"This is Hope." Vic introduced me.
"Oh, hi!" She said happily and reached over to me, shaking my hand. "Yea, I've seen you around school, nice to meet you." I smiled.
"Nice to meet you too."
"Ok, come on guys, the night is wasting away!" Chris yelled.
"Fine!" We all walked to the house.
"So who's party is this?" I asked Mark.
"Hm, don't know." I laughed a bit. "Well, Chris knows a couple people here."
"Can't wait." I said a bit sarcastically.
"You'll have fun." Mark kissed the side of my head.
