Bound by Darkness: A Tale of Wrath and Redemption

Thirds Pov
Thane came back after he cooled down.
Gage was still in agony, both physically and mentally. He couldn't believe what was happening. He felt he had been better off on the street than here. He was scared, terrified, unable to sleep without seeing monstrous faces. The thought of what Thane or Wrath had done to him left him utterly shattered. He had grown to like Thane—no, love him—but it seemed like Thane didn't feel the same way. Thane came up to Gage's room and found him lost in thoughts, crying, pacing, and panting.
Thane felt a searing pang of guilt hit his chest. He hadn't meant for any of this to happen to Gage, his gem. He had actually begun to love him deeply. He couldn't bear to see the sight of Gage crying—not in a million years.
"Gage, gem, why are you crying?" Thane asked, his voice soft and breaking.
Gage turned to Thane and began to sob even harder. He moved out of Thane's reach, and Thane felt a stab of pain. Gage, his gem, was afraid of him. Well, who wouldn't be?
"Hey, it's okay," Thane said, coming to sit beside Gage. He gently pulled him close, holding him tightly and drawing small circles on his back. "It's okay, let it out."
Gage didn't know why he was still crying. He buried his face in the crook of Thane's neck and sobbed louder than ever before.
Time seemed to stand still as half an hour passed, and Gage's sobs slowly turned into soft sniffles.
"I'm so sorry," Thane whispered, his voice choked with emotion. This time, the tears he had been desperately trying to hold back fell, mingling with Gage's as they landed on his cheeks. "I never wanted to hurt you, my gem."
Gage clung to Thane, feeling the raw vulnerability between them. The pain, the love, and the unspoken words hung heavily in the air, weaving their hearts closer together.

Gage and Thane sat on the bed, cuddled against one another.
"You want to know what I am, my gem, right?" Thane asked Gage.
Gage nodded, unable to meet Thane's gaze.
"Well, my gem, I'll tell you. I'll start from the beginning."
Thane took a deep breath. "I'm a demon—well, not just any demon. I'm one of the seven aristocrats of hell, the Seven Deadly Sins. My position is Wrath. I'm anger, destruction, and all things bad.
"Back when I was in hell, it's said that demons have mates. And I found my mate. I didn't understand because I was mated to a human—the first in history to be mated to one. The man you saw, well, the man who healed your injuries," Thane's voice cracked, "was my brother, Azreal. He's an angel."
Gage turned to Thane, his brows furrowed in confusion.
Thane chuckled softly at his expression. "Yes, my brother is an angel, and I'm a demon. During the Fall, I was one of the unfortunate ones dragged to hell against my will."
Thane's eyes darkened as he continued, "The Fall was a catastrophic event. Angels who dared to question the divine order were cast out of heaven. It wasn't a peaceful descent; it was a violent, soul-shattering expulsion. I remember the chaos, the betrayal, the anguish. We were ripped from our celestial home, our wings burning as we plummeted into the abyss.
"I was dying. I remember that day, millennia ago. I was on the ground, bleeding uncontrollably. I wanted to live, to help avenge my Maker, but it was impossible. I couldn't move. I was in agony. The pain was indescribable—my very essence being torn apart.
"Lucifer saw me after Angel Michael had struck him down, rendering him wingless and powerless. He offered me a choice: succumb to my wounds or embrace a new, darker existence. I chose to live, driven by fear and a desire for vengeance. Lucifer told me to close my eyes, and I did. Then I was awakened by searing pain. My body burned with hellfire, my appearance grotesquely transformed. My hair, once golden like the sun, turned silver, my eyes matching. I grew fangs, claws, and horns—marks of my new, cursed form.
"I couldn't understand. Lucifer had cut a piece of his heart and given it to me. 'You are a part of me now, Wrath,' he said. I was reborn as his instrument of vengeance, but I was also his prisoner. He vanished, leaving me to grapple with my new reality.
"I was met with my brother. Anger burned in his eyes. 'You traitor,' he said. 'How could you?' He didn't give me time to explain, didn't give me a chance. He tore my wings from my back in a brutal, merciless act of retribution."
Thane shivered at the mention of his wings being ripped off, and Gage held him tightly.
"I was cast down to hell. I realized I wasn't the only victim of Lucifer's manipulation. Alongside me were six others—innocent angels, now twisted into embodiments of sin. We were forced to adapt to our new roles, the darkness within us growing stronger. I embraced my name—Wrath, tormentor of souls, and harbinger of destruction.
"The Sanctum is like a memory tomb, the place I go to fully become Wrath, to transform into the monstrous creature you saw me as."
Thane turned to Gage and said, "I'm sorry, my gem. I'm so sorry."
Gage, being the selfless person he was, replied, "It's okay. I forgive you, Thane."
"No, gem, I shall work for my forgiveness," Thane insisted.
Gage couldn't help but smile at him.
Thane had left out the part about Gage being his mate. Right now, the only thing on his mind was the mark his brother had left on Gage. Thane knew he had to go to the Underworld to get answers from his other six brothers.
"Gem, how would you like to see the other sins, hmm?" Thane asked.
Gage, out of curiosity, fear, and intrigue, said yes.
Thane held him tighter. "Tomorrow, we will get answers."
