-Aaliyah-

I finished preparing dinner and setting the table before I went upstairs to help the kids wash up.

"LiLi, is everything gunna be okay?" Mariah asked.

I smiled while looking at her, "Don't you worry, beautiful. Everything is gunna be fine."

I escorted them down the stairs and Jr told Michael and Lisa to join us for dinner. I placed Melanie in her seat and pushed it up to the table.

"Melanie has to have her patty cut," Lisa said as she sat down.

I looked at Lisa as I placed Melanie's plate down that contained her already cut up patty, "I know that."

I shot her a smile and Lisa rolled her eyes in response.

"Enjoy it, buttercup!" I kissed Melanie's forehead then winked at Lisa before I walked to my own seat.

Michael licked his lips, "We've never had Scallop potatoes before, LiLi. These are so good."

I smiled across the table at him, "Thank you. I'm glad you like them."

My phone started to vibrate inside my pocket and I pulled it out, excusing myself from the table.

"Hello?" I answered.

Calvin: "You sound sweeter every time we talk."

There was laughter on the other end.

Me: "Look, Calvin! Why won't you just leave me alone? You're wasting-" I was cut off.

Calvin: "I'm wasting my time and I should go find my wife and tend to my kids. Blah, blah, blah. I already know."

Me: "Why do you constantly call me? All these unknown numbers you use to reach me. Why won't you leave me in the past?"

Calvin: "Because I'm still in love with you, Dana."

Me: "Don't call me that. I would be a fool to believe anything you have to say. Where's wifey? Does she know that you're in love with me or are you keeping that away from her?"

Calvin: "She's away. Her and the kids. Haha! You've really grown bad, girl. My wife has nothing to do with what we have going on, Dana.. Aaliyah, I meant. How about you come over?"

Me: "You're crazy as hell if you think I'm coming to the home that you and your wife raise your children!"

Calvin: He laughed. "Well, let's meet at our old home."

Me: "You can cancel that, Calvin! That house is no longer a home. It's not even my home anymore."

I hadn't noticed Michael coming up behind me.

"Everything okay?" he asked.

I jumped as I turned around, removing the phone from ear, "Hehe; oh yes. Everything is fine."

Calvin: "Do I hear a man in the background? Who is that?"

Michael smirked then whispered, "Your ex fiancé hm?" I nodded and he laughed, "Tell him I'm your boyfriend."

Me: I laughed quietly. "You do hear a man. My boyfriend."

Calvin: "Your boyfriend? Don't play that shit with me, Aaliyah."

I covered my mouth and Michael and I both began to laugh. Calvin constantly yelled into the phone and as our laughter faded, I hung up.

"He's pretty upset, hm?" Michael asked.

"Yes, but I don't care. He'll get over it. Shall we return to dinner?"

"We shall," Michael said and allowed me to the dining area first.

After dinner, Michael took the children upstairs to lay them down for the night. As I picked up the dirty dishes, Lisa stood by the table.

"You have some nerve, Aaliyah, you know?"

"Don't start with me," I replied not taking my attention from the table.

"You were way out of line before dinner. How dare you accuse me of cheating on Michael?!"

"Oh Lisa, please. You know damn well that was you at that restaurant today! Face it, you got caught. You didn't think anyone would see you and we did. Atleast I did."

"I'm sick of you trying to tear my marriage apart! Everything was fine before you got here. You just had to-"

I rudely interrupted, "Everything was not fine around here. You weren't mother of the year before I got here and you still aren't. You're also not the perfect wife! You don't keep up with the children's grades or anything they do. What's Mariah's math teacher's name, hm? What sport has Jr been interested in playing? Bitch tell me what lullaby Melanie likes to fall asleep to?" I placed the dishes down and folded my arms.

"Go ahead. I'll wait."

Lisa stood there silently.

"See. You're pathetic! You'd know how to answer those questions if you'd take the time to show interest in your children. Instead, you're out giving yourself to another man then have the audacity to come home with assumptions that Michael and I are fooling around. You disgust me!"

I rolled my eyes and Lisa slowly turned to me. I grabbed the dishes from the table and walked towards the sink.

"I am not cheating on my husband. I love him! You don't know what you're talking about so mind your business. You're after my marriage, Aaliyah. You want my spot so bad. You wish my children would call you mommy. You wish you could lay in bed every night with my husband, don't you?" Lisa smirked and I shook my head.

"And that's where you go wrong. Thinking that I want the life you live. I don't see how Michael is so blind to who you really are."

Before Lisa could respond, Michael entered the kitchen.

"Everything okay in here?" He asked with a confused look on his face.

Lisa smiled, "Everything is fine, honey. Aaliyah and I were just cleaning up the kitchen."

Michael wrapped a single arm around Lisa's waist, "It makes me happy that you two are trying again to get along. I'm so proud of you both. Mm; Let me not interrupt. I'll be waiting for you in bed, okay?"

Lisa nodded and as I scrubbed a plate, I heard as their lips touch. Part of me felt a little jealous. I slightly peered through the window and could see their reflections. I watched as Michael's other arm wrapped around Lisa and their kiss seemed to have grown deeper. I stared longer, not noticing the plate slowly slipping from my hand. It hit the sink loudly, causing me to gasp and snap out of my thoughts. It also caused Michael and Lisa to pull away.

"Are you okay, Aaliyah?" Lisa asked.

"I'm fine. You two should go ahead and go to bed. I'll get the kitchen cleaned myself."

I laid in bed and sighed. As I replayed Michael and Lisa's kiss in my head, I did feel jealous. I pictured myself in Michael's arms and I pictured his lips pressed deeply to my own. I squirmed uncomfortably. I looked at Michael as my friend since the day I started working for him. It bothered me to lay here and think of us so intimately, but it sparked a deep desire in me. I wanted to know how it felt to kiss Michael. I wanted so badly to pull him close to me and share a moment of affection. I know that moment would never happen, so I decided to sleep the feelings away.
