Kaia woke up to the worst headache of her life. She also felt queasy.

She felt geriatric. Five years ago, she would have easily gotten out of bed after a night out, no problem. But now, her body couldn't really handle it anymore.

It took a lot of groans to push herself out of bed and drag her legs to the bathroom. She didn't puke, and thank god for that, but the smell of eggs wafting from the kitchen downstairs was a close call.

She sat down at the kitchen table, her legs crossed and groaned when her dad played a video on his phone a little too loud.

"Can you ground me? I shouldn't be allowed to party anymore."

Nour laughed, planting a kiss on Kaia's forehead and a glass of orange juice on the table. "You're too old. You have to suffer the consequences of your actions, honey."

Kaia groaned some more and dropped her head on the table.

"Do you want some breakfast?"

She shook her head. "No, I have to go for a run."

"You don't have to," her dad mentioned, still looking at his phone screen while taking small sips of coffee every once in a while.

"I do. I need to sweat out all the tequila I consumed last night," she grunted.

"Well, at least have some juice. And hydrate yourself."

"Seriously. Next time I tell you I'm going out, lock all the doors," she said, taking the glass of orange juice upstairs with her so she could get changed.

Once in her running shorts and sports bra, she left the house, earphones in, and started the walk to the park before she could get on with at least a slow and easy 5k.

She put her songs on shuffle and the first song that came on was You Belong With Me. Because of course it was.

And just as she was done stretching her legs, her Apple watch buzzed around her wrist. She tapped the screen to read the message, smiling when she saw Taylor's name appear.

Taylor: how's the hangover?

Kaia pulled her phone out and sent her a selfie in response with her thumb pointed down and a big scowl on her face.

Taylor: 😂😂😂 Jack sent me your lovely performance last night after I left. I gotta say, you got pipes!

Kaia groaned. She had completely forgotten that she had asked the guy to do that for her. She specifically asked him to film her so he could send the video to Taylor. Oh god.

Kaia: I'm so sorry you had to see that.

Taylor: Don't be! That video is my new most prized possession ever. Although, I really hope your throat's not injured. You screamed a lot...

Yep, and she was definitely suffering from the consequences of those actions.

Kaia: I'll be fine. I'll have some tea later. For now, I run off the hangover!

Taylor: you're insane. You're on a run?!

Kaia: [voice message] The grind don't stop, baby!
