On October 3rd, Kaia woke up at exactly 6:15 a.m. to the tune of Happy Birthday being sung softly in the room.
She sat up in bed groggily. She didn't want to be annoyed with Taylor for waking her up but she really would have appreciated the extra few hours of sleep she could have gotten otherwise.
Still, Taylor had gone out of her way to wake up early and return to bed with a mini cake and two candles reading the numbers 3 and 0.
Kaia rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, smiling sleepily at her girlfriend who sat right next to her, holding the cake in her lap. "Happy birthday toooooo you!"
Kaia laughed softly when Taylor stopped singing. "Good morning..."
"Good morning, beautiful," Taylor replied, her smile bright. She pressed a kiss on Kaia's cheek and held the cake up with a small knife as well. "Make a wish!"
Kaia took the knife from her, twisting her mouth to the side as she thought of something. She did make a wish, even though she never tended to believe in them. But just in case someone was listening and felt keen on delivering, she wished for something along the lines of forever and Taylor.
She blew her candles out and cut a piece of cake and Taylor cheered excitedly, making Kaia laugh some more.
"Did you make the cake yourself?" Kaia asked, wondering when she would have had the time to do so.
"Yup. After you went to bed last night," Taylor confirmed. "I love when you decide to turn in at like ten p.m. Gives me enough time to plan your surprises!"
Kaia chuckled, holding Taylor's face in both hands and kissing her softly. "Merci, mon amour." [Thank you my love.]
Taylor kissed her back before scraping a piece of cake up with a fork. "It's chocolate fudge."
Kaia accepted the first bite and then let out a little moan unintentionally. "Fuck me, that is good."
Taylor grinned proudly. "I'm glad you like it."
"I do. And I'm gonna have more later. I wanna sleep more though," Kaia said, patting the empty side of the bed next to her. "Come back to bed."
"Okay," Taylor chuckled, putting the cake on an empty surface nearby and sliding into bed next to Kaia. Except, before she could cuddle her, she opened the drawer on her side of the bed and pulled out a very thin velvet black box. "Can I give you your birthday present first?"
Kaia opened her eyes back up, gasping softly at the jewellery box.
"Taylor... That's so sweet. You shouldn't have!" Kaia said, holding the box in her hands.
"Of course I did. It's a big day, babe. I wanna make sure you have a great one!"
"Thank you!" Kaia said, kissing Taylor's cheek before opening the box. She gasped, holding a beaded bracelet up to show Taylor. "That is beautiful. Taylor..."
