When Taylor finally stirred awake the next morning, for a second there, everything felt normal, until she became very aware of the weight around her waist, pinning her down. An arm...

She blinked, her eyes taking a moment to focus. Kaia was still asleep next to her. She must have woken her up when she rolled over and sprawled her arm over her torso. Kaia took up a lot of space in that massive bed and Taylor didn't mind it.

She smiled when she noticed that Kaia had the faintest smile on her face and wondered what she must have been dreaming about.

One quick glance at her phone let her know that it was only 6:30. She could get more sleep. In fact, she didn't have anything else on her schedule all day. She managed to get Kaia's arm off her without waking her up only because she didn't want her to wake up and feel awkward about it. Though, she couldn't help but note how much lighter she felt now that it was gone. She preferred it around her. She missed having someone in bed with her and not even in any romantic way. This... this was nice.

Just as she was about to fall back asleep, Kaia rolled her way again, almost as though she was consciously cuddling up into Taylor's side. This time, she didn't push her away. Her entire right side felt very warm and all of her body tingled.

She managed to get another hour of sleep and the next time she woke up, it was to an unfamiliar ringtone.

She felt Kaia shifting next to her and patting the mattress around her until she found her phone, still tucked in the pocket of the sweatpants she had borrowed from Taylor.

Taylor glanced her way as she answered the call, but Kaia had her back to her.

"Maman? Ça va? ... Ouai, quoi? Il est huit heures? Non, non. T'inquiètes. Chuis restée chez une amie. Désolé. Ouai. Okay, je t'aime aussi." [Mom? Are you okay? Yeah... what? It's eight o'clock? No, no, don't worry. I stayed over at a friend's house. I'm sorry. Yeah. Okay. I love you too."

Taylor only caught a word or two. She understood that it was Kaia's mother and that she loved her and that was it. It was really impressive how fluent Kaia was though.

"Everything okay?" She asked, sitting up against the headboard.

Kaia jumped in surprise, turning toward Taylor. Her hair was a mess. She had fallen asleep while it was still drying. Taylor honestly found it adorable. She probably didn't look any better either.

"I'm sorry if I woke you up," she said softly. "That was my mum. She got worried. I forgot to text her last night to let her know I was staying over."

Taylor nodded and wiped her eyes with her fingers. "You sleep okay?" She asked through a yawn.

"Yeah..." Kaia said, letting out a small cough. "I'm sorry if I got into your personal space. Once I'm asleep, I have absolutely no control over it and I've been told I'm a terrible co-sleeper."

"No, you were fine," Taylor chuckled. "Didn't even notice you were there."

That was a big lie but Kaia didn't need to know everything.

She started pulling her hair up in a bun, still smiling apologetically at Taylor. "You could have just left me on the couch. Or kicked me off to a guest room."

"Are you kidding?" Taylor laughed as she got out of bed and started fixing the pillows. "I tried to get you to the guest room but you were insistent on me being your pillow for the night."
