A/N: i don't know what came over me at the end of this chapter but uh... enjoy. 🙂‍↕️

It may or may not be something. You find the next possible case while the three of you are reading the local Minnesota newspaper over breakfast. The article is about a man named Alvin Jenkins that went missing about a week ago. It is supposedly a textbook disappearance, but you can't shake the feeling it may be something more.

"Pie is not a breakfast food." You comment to Dean as he shovels a huge bite into his mouth.

"You're not a breakfast food." He mutters, his cheeks full of berries and whipped cream.

"Your comebacks are getting sloppy." Sam says with a small laugh.

You've never seen a man finish a sizable slice of pie in literally three bites until now. You finish the rest of your coffee and turn your attention to Sammy.

"Listen to this, an eyewitness claimed to have seen the attack happen just outside of his bedroom window." You say, reading on you notice that the police are stumped at what could have taken the man.

"Might as well check it out." Sam agrees.

The witness is Evan McKay; a twelve year old with quite a messy bedroom. His mother stands by his side, obviously not very happy that there is another round of questions being aimed at her son about the night. You and the boys are dressed up in the proper state police attire, of course, pretending to be officials so you can dig around a bit more to lead you to anything suspicious about this case.

"I know you're just doing your job, but the police have been here all week already." Mrs. McKay complains. "I don't see why we have to go through this again. The more he tells the story, the more he believes it's true."

"Mrs. McKay," Sam begins. He takes off his hat out of respect when he begins to talk to the woman, you and Dean follow suit. "We know you spoke to the local authorities."

"But this seems like a matter for the state police." Dean says.

You look to the young boy and smile, giving him a reassuring look. "Don't worry about how crazy it sounds, Evan. Just tell us what you saw."

"I was up late, watching TV, when I heard this...weird noise." Evan explains. He talks slowly while taking a few deep breaths. It seems that night is still bothering him.

"What did it sound like?" Sam asks.

"It sounded like, " Evan stops speaking for a few moments before he continues. "A monster."

You and the boys give one another peculiar glances. But his mother gives you another detail about the night. "Tell the officers what you were watching on TV." She says, glancing over at her son with a look, knowing how an imagination can go wild after watching something particularly disturbing.

"Um...Godzilla vs. Mothra." He admits. You couldn't help yourself but chuckle at his answer.

"That's my favorite Godzilla movie." Dean says enthusiastically. He cracks a smile at the boy, acting as if they were bonding over cheesy films and not just discussing a reported disappearance just five seconds ago. "It's so much better than the original."

"Totally." Evan agrees, smiling up at the older man.

"Yeah. He likes the remake." Dean points to Sam, who just gives him the infamous glare that he brings out on special occasions when his brother is acting particularly annoying.

"Yuck!" Evan exclaims.

You roll your eyes at these boys, you clear your throat before Dean has a chance to stray off the topic that you are here for in the first place. The oldest Winchester quiets down when you look at him, he drops his head to look at his invisible notes before you glance back over at Evan. You smile at him again, hoping to get everyone back on the important topic.
