"Violet Marie!!!! Get back here and get in this tub before I bring your father in!" Your mother laughed as she grabbed at your passing form as you slipped out of the tub and out the bathroom door.
You couldn't help but giggle at your temporary success as you turned the corner in the hall and made a sprint for your bedroom. The covers on your bed. They could protect you from this.
Out of nowhere, giant arms circle your waist and haul you from your feet as you squeal and kick your legs.
"Gotcha!" David, your father, whooped. "Back to the bath with you, little lady."
You huffed and puffed until you were red in the face, but, in the end you found yourself plopped back down into the warm water. Your mother working soap into a lather in her hands before scrubbing at the days accumulation of dirt on your skin.
Being three was hard work. So much to see, so much to eat, and... most importantly, so many monsters to fight.
You couldn't be expected to fight them alone, of course, which is why your neighbors - the Winchesters, specifically their eldest son Dean, never failed to show up for a good slaying.
Maybe the bath wasn't so bad, you thought, as Elizabeth delicately massaged at your scalp with expert fingertips.
"There we go. You know sweetheart, these baths wouldn't take so long if you stopped playing jailbreak."
Hmph.
The rest of the evening consisted of benign routine. For some reason, it was insisted upon. The same bedtime story, the same dull light coming from the dusty hallway lamp, the same stuffed animals, the same forehead kisses. That was... until the time came for your mother and father to leave you alone.
"Goodnight, sweetheart." Your mother kissed your cheek and made sure to tuck your favorite toy under your arm before retreating out of your room with her back to the door. "I love you."

"Honey? Did you forget to call the electrician again?" Elizabeth couldn't hide the annoyance from her voice as she stood in the kitchen, watching the overhead light flicker for the fourth night in a row.
"Beth, I told you already, they are coming on Monday." David responded with as much patience as he could manage.
Things weren't always like this. Faulty wiring here, things moving on their own there... nothing to bat an eye at. But now? Suffice to say the vibes were simply not what they used to be.
What once felt safe no longer did. Elizabeth grinded her teeth together as she felt ice crawl across her skin. Something was wrong. Was he back? She should have more time than this.
Violet. Elizabeth opened the kitchen drawer that housed the knives and slowly pulled out the largest one she could see. Dropping her arm to her side, she snuck up the stairs.
David was in the living room, as he always was this time of night, and had the TV on loud enough that he wouldn't hear a rogue stair if it dared creak as his dear wife climbed them, weapon in hand.
The lights dimmed again with a faint hum of electricity and her fingers tensed along the handle of the blade. "Violet?" she called out to you. She should have more time than this. All of this time spent wasted... thinking she would truly have the time she was given. Fucking idiot. She told herself she should have known better. You can't trust them. You can't trust anyone.
Just as Elizabeth was about to turn down the hallway to her only daughter's bedroom, something popped out at her.
"BOO!" Instead of meeting a pair of very familiar eyes, Elizabeth looked down at her attacker and found you, arms up with your fingers bent like claws. "RAWRrRR"
