"miyuki, what do you think of the kaijus and defense force?"

the little girl looks up from her storybook and tilts her head at the sudden question coming from her mother.

looking at her mother with furrowed eyebrows and the child pouting, the little girl says, "confusingly annoying."

the mother laughs at her child's response.

she then suddenly pulls the little girl's cheek harshly to which the child whines while the mother asks, "why do you say that?"

the little girl then grabs her mother's hand - trying to stop her from pinching her cheeks any further as she answers, "it's all no good! you and daddy spend too much time fighting them and get covered with blood all over!" she whines.

hikaru's grin had slowly turned to a small soft smile as she looks at her child and beckons her to come over to sit in her lap.

"miyuki, i'm sorry but you know we have to." hikaru says as she cradles her child in her arms. "it's for the safety of everyone."

"but what about yours?" the mother was a bit taken aback by her child's response, little mahiru looked up to her with such a serious look.

miyuki was still a three year old child, she still doesn't know it's really for the goodness of the nation. hikaru thinks as she reminds herself of it.

hikaru smiled at her child once more as she reassured her. "oh, me and your daddy will be just fine!" she confidently says.

"ah right, speaking of which," hikaru reaches for the tv's remote and turns on the tv. "see? your dad is doing so well." the mother says as they sit in front of the tv a few steps away, the television showing isao shinomiya in an interview with a reporter.

the mother plays with her daughter's hair as her eyes are glued on the tv - watching her husband relay the success of yet another kaiju neutralization.

it was a calming moment like the ocean seas going to the shore of the sands, but inside little miyuki's heart - it was rocky as a broken down abandoned mountain road.

the small girl knew what her parents were doing was an incredibly brave thing yet also dangerous work, but she understood it was for the good of the people living.

her parents were strong people, she knew that. hikaru shinomiya, her mother, was the captain of the second division unit and her father - isao shinomiya, was the first division's captain.
