CHAPTER 5

"What's your poison?" The man asked Seungcheol

Seungcheol understood and said "whiskey"

The man gave seungcheol a wine bottle and an opener and turned around to take out whiskey

"Why did you say so..?" Seungcheol asked " What?"

"That you have a bad opinion."

"The character in your story.." He started while cleaning the whiskey glasses with a cloth

"The serial killer..?" Seungcheol asked
"Yea.. Your novel is based on the murder which happened a couple of years ago, right?" He asked while putting ice in the glasses

"Yea. It was all over the news back then" Seungcheol said while trying to open the wine bottle

"May I make a criticism? With your permission" The man asked while seungcheol just nodded

"In your opinion.. The 6 murders that he committed--" " Not six. Five murders" Seungcheol interrupted when he finally opened the wine bottle

"Five murders." He smiled "What was the motive behind those murders?" The man asked

"Vengeance" Seungcheol said

"Against whom?" He asked

"Against women." Seungcheol replied

"Vengeance against women. " The man tilted his head little and continued "How did you come to that conclusion?" The man asked him while pouring the wine in a glass

"All five victims.. were women. They were brutally tortured. Apart from that, their head.. He had shaved off the hair of all five women. And to go such lengths, what else could it be, other than hatred or vengeance?" Seungcheol said

"Maybe. But the motive behind his vengeance isn't clear in your novel. And i have a keen interest in psychology" The man said with a smile and handed him the whiskey glass and took the wine glass and went to raena

Meanwhile, Raena was looking at a woman's portrait that was hung on the wall.

The man approached her with the glass and said, " That's my mother"
He turned towards her and gave her the glass "In vino veritas" He said with a smirk. "The wine makes you speak the truth." He said and raised his glass of whiskey while she did the same and took a sip of her drink

"Mr. Seungcheol, psychologically speaking, there are shortcomings in your novel. The motivation of the killer is not clear." He said to seungcheol who just walked were they both were standing

"Firstly, it's a crime thriller. Not a psychological thriller. It's clear in the novel that the motive is vengeance. None of the readers had an issue with it" Seungcheol said before he put his glass on the small dining table and walking around it

"Mr. Seungcheol, a conversation with an upcoming writer like you is something I've been looking forward to." The man said with subtle excitement and walking around the table.

" I have certain notions. The killer in your novel... Can be any one of us. If so...their voice shouldn't be unheard. If vengeance against women is the motive behind those murders, you must make it clear" He said sternly, while looking straight at seungcheol

"Humiliation. Humiliation from women." Seungcheol said

"Could be possible." The man said before he removed and blowed on his glasses and wore them back

"Apart from vengeance, there could be other motives as well."

" What are the other motives?" Seungcheol asked while frowning

"Curiosity." He answered while looking at his glass " Inquisitiveness" He said before turning to seungcheol
"About the female body. About their psyche. I read about this murders in the newspaper, then in your novel." He said while walking towards seungcheol

"As per me... The motive behind those murders is not vengeance. It's curiousity" The man said

"I don't think curiosity can make a person kill someone" Seungcheol said while chuckling

"What if it's a sexual problem?" Raena who was silently listening to their conversation, finally spoke

"No. None of the victims were raped.
Nor was there any indication of sexual assault." He said looking at raena and turned towards the man who refilled and brought seungcheol's glass and handed it to him "in this case, it's not a motive." He said and walked away.

"Then what's the motive?" Raena asked

"As per my research, the forensic reports showed that those victims died after bleeding profusely for several days. This shows that, the intention was not just to kill but to hurtt them. There were cuts of all sizes on their bodies, made with blades and knives."

"There were marks of ropes on their bodies. This shows that they were tied up and hung. They were killed slowly and painfully. It's definitely not curiousity. It's pure madness" Seungcheol explained

"Is the killer a madman now??" The man said "A person who murdered five people and evaded being captured by the police.. Is he just a mad man?" He asked with an eye brow raised

"An intelligent mad man. I think he's brilliant" Raena said before taking a sil from her glass

The man smiled widely, before asking "The killer in your novel was killed at the end right?"

"Yes. Because my intention was tha such people should be eliminated from the society." Seungcheol replied

"And how that should be done?" The man asked

"They should be killed" Seungcheol answered after taking a sip of whiskey

"Stop it, Seungcheol. He's just joking" Raena said after she poured herself another glass of wine "after all he's a writer. His imagination runs a bit wild" She said

"Exactly. Imagination. That's exactly what I didn't like in Seungcheol's novel" The man said

"Well.. How can someone write a story without imagination?" Raena asked with a little frown

"Experience" "So you're saying that..., if seungcheol is writing about a killer, then.. He should be a killer himself?" She asked him while chuckling

"Absolutely" The man said with a smile

"Well... We're talking for so long but you didn't introduce yourself yet.. What's your name??" Raena asked him while tilting her head

The man just leaned on the table and smiled before the lights turned off.
