I thought I should reach out even though I know you went away.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry for treating you like you were worth nothing to me.

I apologize for not being there for you when you called my name and asked me to save you.

It's not your fault I that I didn't show you the respect that you are worth.

I'm sorry for trying to take your light away.

I'm sorry for ever having taken a step into your life.

I'm sorry that I'll never change. Things will never go away. Things will just stay the same.

I'm sorry that this is only a fantasy.
I'm sorry that this is the way you found to cope.
I'm sorry that I will never apologize.

I hope one day to know what I lost even if I know I'll never see you again. I did it, and I never apologized, I never will sincerely do. I said I was sorry, but what did I do?

I'm sorry you had to say goodbye, but to me, I'll always remember you, and you still linger on my mind.

But this is only wish that will never come true so it stays all as a dream. You'll never know who I am or what you have done to me. You can't regret something you never knew hurt me even when I tried to stop you. You want me to hang on and stay haunting the halls of your memory and try to get me to come back when you can see I've clearly moved on.

For anyone who is confused, the poem is written from the perspective of a narcissistic person who has no sympathy. The "fantasy" is that the narcissist would suddenly have a change of mind and heart and apologize with meaning and admit their wrong. But of course, that will never happen, so it stays only a dream that never came true, and this is my way of getting a sincere apology from a person who will never change and proved so time and time again.
