The soft glow of evening settled over Taylor's house as the echoes of celebration from the award ceremony began to fade. Taylor was still in her elegant dress, her hair perfectly styled, but she was already back in the kitchen with Eliot, her excitement from winning the award still bubbling over. They had decided to bake cinnamon buns together, a spontaneous idea that brought a sense of normalcy and warmth to the whirlwind day.
Eliot moved around the kitchen with an infectious energy, humming a tune as he gathered the ingredients. Taylor set up her camera, wanting to capture the moment for herself later on in life.
"Okay, let's do this," Taylor said, her voice bright and cheerful, "we're going to bake some cinnamon buns! Eliot, babe, are you ready?"
Eliot turned to the camera with a wide grin, waving giddily. "Absolutely! Let's do this!" he exclaimed. He quickly moved to Taylor's side, glancing at her with a playful look in his eyes. Without warning, he leaned in to plant a quick kiss on her cheek. Taylor, caught off guard, recoiled slightly, but only for a second. She turned fully to face him, her eyes sparkling with love, and gave him a real, lingering kiss.
The moment was sweet and spontaneous, a perfect reflection of their relationship. As Taylor pulled away, she noticed the camera still recording and laughed softly. "I guess we're doing more than just baking tonight," she teased, her cheeks slightly flushed.
Eliot chuckled, his hands already back to work, rolling out the dough with practised ease. "Can't help myself," he said with a wink.
They moved around each other with a comfortable rhythm, their movements synchronised like a well-rehearsed dance. Taylor spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the dough, while Eliot rolled it up carefully, his hands steady and sure. Every now and then, they would steal glances at each other, their eyes meeting with unspoken affection.
As they worked, Taylor couldn't help but feel a deep sense of contentment. The chaos of the award ceremony and the excitement of winning seemed a world away now. Here, in the warmth of her kitchen, with Eliot by her side, everything felt right.
Once the cinnamon buns were in the oven, Eliot washed his hands and turned to Taylor, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Now what?" he asked.
Taylor set the timer and wiped her hands on a towel, a playful smile tugging at her lips. "Now we dance," she declared, stepping into his arms.
Eliot laughed softly and placed his hands on her waist, pulling her close. Taylor rested her hands on his shoulders, and they began to sway to the imaginary music in their heads. The camera, still recording, captured the intimate moment as they moved together, completely forgetting about the world outside.
As they danced, Taylor rested her head against Eliot's chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. It was a sound that brought her comfort and peace, a reminder of how deeply they were connected. She felt his hands tighten slightly around her waist, anchoring her in the moment.
Eventually, Eliot broke the silence. "This has been a pretty amazing day," he murmured, his voice low and gentle.
Taylor lifted her head and looked up at him, her eyes filled with love. "It really has," she agreed. "Thank you for being here."
Eliot smiled and leaned down to kiss her forehead. "There's nowhere else I'd rather be," he said.
They continued to dance, the kitchen filled with the soft hum of the oven and the occasional sound of their laughter. The smell of cinnamon and sugar wafted through the air, adding to the cosy atmosphere.
