Taylor flew back to New York the Sunday after play two nights in Kansas City. She missed her friends more than she'd like to admit. Maybe it was because she had more free time now that she wasn't hanging off a guys arm. A guy that no longer gave two damns about her despite the being in a six year relationship. She wanted to spend all of her time getting drunk with friends lately. Or at least gossiping. Part of her resented some. Like Blake and Ryan, or Jack and Margaret, because they had found the person that wanted to marry them. They had found their person and had fallen so in love.
Taylor once thought Joe was that person. And maybe he thought that too. But his career was just taking off and hers was in full swing and he began to resent her for that. That was unfair and Taylor knew it, so she began to resent him back.
Love was a strange thing. She loved Joe right up until the end, and probably some more after their relationship ended. But she truthfully hadn't been in love with him for nearly a year beforehand.
Still, despite the bitter taste in her mouth whenever she saw wedding bands on her friends' ring fingers, she would never let her own shortcomings stop her from loving her friends.
So whenever she was free, she would meet up with whoever was also free and get drunk. Unless it was brunch. She had enough self control to know not to drink a lot at 11am.
This time, it was Gigi, Blake, and the Haim sisters. They walked down the streets of New York from where the cars they had parked were as they tried their best to ignore the paparazzi. Thanks to their security guards, they made it to the restaurant doors and to their seats.
Once sat down, and privacy was restored, Taylor relaxed her shoulders and let out a groan.
Este laughed at that and bumped her shoulder. "Relax a little, Tay. It's after 5 so we can get drunk if that's what your heart desires," She grinned.
"That is very much my heart's desire, thank you," Taylor smiled back. "However, I'm not supposed to. Although from the comfort of my own house."
That was understandable, so her friends hummed and nodded as they read the menu. Taylor had ordered a crisp white wine and a plate of pesto pasta, a dish she loved for its simple yet vibrant flavours.
Blake took a sip of her cocktail, her eyes twinkling. "So, Taylor, how's the tour going? You must be exhausted."
Taylor smiled, twirling her fork in the pasta. "It's been amazing, but yeah, a bit tiring. The fans have been incredible, though. Every night feels like a celebration."
Gigi leaned in, her curiosity piqued. "I saw the photos from Kansas City. It looked like an epic night."
"It really was," Taylor agreed. "The energy was insane. And MUNA and Gracie Abrams are fantastic openers."
The conversation flowed seamlessly, moving from the tour to recent fashion trends and upcoming projects. Danielle recounted a funny story about their latest recording session, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
As the laughter died down, Alana glanced at her phone and then back at the group with a small smile. "Speaking of Kansas City, did any of you see that story about the soccer player who tried to give Taylor his number on a friendship bracelet?"
Taylor's eyes widened in surprise, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "No? Wha- What happened?"
Alana chuckled. "Yeah, apparently, this guy, Eliot Something, plays for Kansas City. He was at your show and tried to give you a bracelet with his number on it."
She knew he was there. She hadn't spoken to him, nor did she know anything about him, but her team always brought celebrities backstage for photos. Even if she hadn't been in the right headspace for them that night.
