Before the chapter (PLEASE READ):

Uhhh yeah. So there'll be a ship in this book (Bickeloon/Basenickloon). It'll be kind of weird cuz of the situation, but I'll try my best to make it work! If you feel uncomfortable with this ship, you don't have to continue reading. I'll update and put this in the Before We Begin.

Thank you!

Hello World... (totally not the song)

Snowflake stared at the lifeless version of himself. He didn't fully understand what was going on, nor did he want to. He went up and tapped on his asset's shoulder. No movement.

"Nickel..." He asked, fear creeping in. "What is this?"

Nickel blinked, unsure how to answer this in a less painful way. To know that you're not real, just a programmed character, must have been very heartbreaking for Snowflake.

"Well, uhm..." He finally started. "It's you."

"I know it's me!" Snowflake snapped before glitching again. "What's going on? Why do I feel wrong?"

"Probably because you aren't acting the way the programmed coded you to." Nickel rolled his eyes.

Snowflake looked at him warily, then back at his asset. "I'm... coded?" He finally whispered, the realization hitting him. "Everything about me is controlled. I don't have free will."

"Uh, yeah..." Nickel responded hesitantly.

"What about everyone else? All the people in the city? Are they like me?"

Nickel nodded and Snowflake sighed. Snowflake glanced towards another asset- someone he knew. He tapped on the lifeless body before reaching his hand back, looking sadly at the ground.

"And what about you?" He asked Nickel, but didn't look at him. "You're different than the others."

Nickel paused for a moment before answering. "I'm a real person. I have a life outside of this- I was just brought here. You probably won't find an asset of me."

"Oh." Snowflake said and walked over to the wall. He sat down against it, looking at his hands which were glitching. He wasn't supposed to find this- another thing that went wrong today. He didn't want to know that he was just a program- an NPC.

He looked up, wondering what was happening in the world above. He thought that everything was normal, that what he had was all there was to life.

But now he knew that he was programmed just to serve as another character in someone else's story. Whatever happened to him didn't really matter. Were any of his feelings actually what he wanted to feel, or did someone make him feel that? It confused him, and hurt his head. Who was even programming him?
