Chapter 8.

Selfie

I entered the room he mentioned. This might be the first time we will sleep in separate beds as a married couple.

Yael doesn't snore and isn't restless when he sleeps, so I'm actually okay with it.

I looked at myself in the mirror. I wore a white seamless long-sleeve top and white sweatpants, letting my wavy brown hair fall loose.

Nakapamulsa akong bumaba. Probably work again. Umupo ako sa harap niya.

"Good morning," bati niya.

I put a croissant on my plate and poured coffee into my mug. "Good morning."

It's also our first time having breakfast together. Yael is such a workaholic that he leaves early and eats his breakfast at the office. Medyo nakakapanibago.

"Did you sleep well?" tanong niya bago sumimsim ng tsaa.

"I did," maikling sagot ko.

"That's good."

I didn't notice last night because it was dark, but his penthouse is pretty big. The walls are made of glass, and there's even a swimming pool outside.

My forehead creased. Is it just me, or do I feel like we're at the top of the mountain?

Tumayo ako para tignan. My curiosity keeps bugging me. I didn't ask Yael where we were going because he said it wasn't far. But now I'm hella curious.

"Why? What's wrong?" tanong niya dahil sa biglaan kong pagtayo.

I opened the glass sliding door and walked towards the glass railing. Naramdaman kong nakasunod si Yael.

My eyes widened as my hair was gently blown by the breeze when I saw the breathtaking view from here. We were at the top, surrounded by lush green trees that stretched out as far as the eye could see. A bird flew gracefully in the sky, appearing to be at our level. Down below, I could glimpse the beach shimmering in the distance.

"Where are we?" bulong ko sa hangin.

Linigon ko si Yael. His hair was being blown by the wind too. He smiled proudly. "We're on my private island."

The scenery was incredibly beautiful. I had never seen anything like it before. It almost looked like a green screen. Absolutely breathtaking. . .

"What's that?"

He looked to where I pointed. "Ah, that's a resort."

"I thought it was a private island?"

Tumango siya. "Yes. It's originally my private island, but I gave half of it to my Auntie so she could build her own resort."

I nodded. Naintindihan ang kaniyang sinabi.  "Hmm."

"This is the back of the house. Sa harap nito ay walang tao. Don't worry," he reassured me.

Inayos ko ang buhok. "I don't mind it, silly."
