8. quiet as a mouse

you chose: sneak past!

"sneak past, we shouldnt mess with toro." I croaked, voice raspy from crying.

everyone looked at me in surprise, before nodding in agreement.

darius and I started to walk by it, hand in hand. I took a deep breath as we walked along the wall. I looked to the others and gave them a thumbs up, they all started to sneak past it as well.

"ah!"

"brooklyn!" darius whispered.

me, sammy, and yaz rushed to her. she was pinned against the wall.

I stepped back, we had to get here out fast. I grabbed on to her arm and counted to 3, on three I pulled her as hard as I could, but I did nothing.

yaz and sammy joined me, "one..two..three!" I whispered, we pulled with all our strength, but stopped suddenly.

toro rounded the corner, and we all held our breathes.

brooklyn yelped as she fell down, suddenly getting free as the triceratops woke up. I quickly grabbed her and pulled her up.

we all started to run as toro and the triceratops started to duke it out.

sammy suddenly stopped, "y'all, theres the exit!"

everyone came rushing back to us, as sammy pointed down the hall.

"oh! oh! I did it! oh! oh! I did it!" sammy cheered, I laughed as I playfully hit her.

"corn-maze sense!"

everyone laughed, when brooklyn suddenly gasped, "theres the map!"

we all walked to it, me and ben leaned down to see it, while sammy stood behind us, a hand on each of our shoulders, pushing up closer together.

I turned around and glared at her, but she just smiled, I could see yaz smile at us as well.

"¡¿la dejistes?!" I asked, sammy just smiled at me, "maybe, maybe not" I rolled my eyes at her, turning my attention back to the map. (you told her?!)

darius pointed at the map, "section 1-C is the southeast corner of the island.."

we all walked along the road, the sun was beginning to set, "at least we know where to go" darius mumbled

"yeah, all the way on the other side of the island" yaz said, as she leaned on a tree.

darius sighed, "better get started"

I leaned against ben as we walked. the sun shone down at me, making me sleepy. I struggled to keep my head up as we walked. I could hear kenji fall behind us, "I cant take another step" he complained, "y/n's starting to fall asleep" ben added.

I shook my head, "no im not.." I mumbled, leaning into him.

darius looked around, "maybe we don't have too!"

we came across the gyrospheres. I was more awake now. as I looked inside, I notice that they were all on low power.

"this thing only has 20% battery" kenji called out

"we mightt have enough to get there tho" brooklyn hypothesized.

as I looked around, I noticed the odd number of gyrospheres, "hey guys," I called out, "theres not enough space, im gonna go back to camp and get limbo, okay?"
