The club lights sparkled like stars as Javier and I arrived, the night pulsing with energy. Javier looked effortlessly stylish in a fitted black shirt that clung to his toned torso, paired with dark jeans and sleek shoes. He exuded a comfortable elegance, ready for a night of partying. In contrast, I had chosen a sexy, shimmering silver dress that hugged my curves, with a deep V-neck and a hemline that flirted with the tops of my thighs. I felt both powerful and alluring.
After picking up my things from the office, I had asked Javier to drop me off at my place, lying that I had errands to run. The truth was, I needed time to sort through my thoughts about him and Sarah. His laughter and easy banter with her earlier had stirred a jealousy I couldn’t ignore. I didn’t want to burden him with my insecurities, so I kept them to myself. Javier picked me up later to head to the club.
[...]
We entered the club and headed straight to our reserved area. It was the spot where Sarah, Mark, and I always hung out. The familiar faces at the table greeted us: Sarah, Mark, and several other coworkers from different sectors of the law agency. We exchanged hugs and cheerful hellos before some of the group moved to the dance floor, including Sarah and Javier.
Mark and I stayed behind, sipping our drinks. He turned to me, a curious glint in his eye. "So, Maddie, what’s next for you? Are you looking for a new job?"
I took a sip of my cocktail, considering his question. "I’m not sure yet. I want to take some time to figure out what I really want to do. Maybe explore some different opportunities."
Mark nodded thoughtfully. "That sounds wise. You’ve got so much potential, Maddie. I’m sure whatever you decide, you’ll be amazing."
As we talked, I couldn’t help but steal glances at Javier. He was dancing freely with our coworkers, his moves fluid and confident. But my heart sank a bit when I saw Sarah approach him, talking closely, her lips near his ear due to the loud music.
A pang of jealousy struck me, and I excused myself from Mark. "I think I need to hit the dance floor too. Catch you later?"
Mark smiled, raising his glass. "Go have fun."
Bachata songs filled the club as I walked toward the dance floor. The rhythm of the bachata song moved through me, and as I approached, Javier's eyes locked onto mine. He immediately separated from Sarah, whose attention was drawn to another coworker.
I grabbed Javier’s hand, pulling him close. The beat dictated my hips, and Javier’s hands found their way to my back, following my steps with a fluid grace. I could feel Sarah’s gaze on us, a smile playing on her lips, but I wanted to erase any doubts. I leaned in, kissing Javier passionately.
Sarah looked at us, shook her head, and turned away. The jealousy melted into the music, and I lost myself in the dance with Javier, our bodies pressed together, my arms draped over his shoulders.
"You dance bachata really well," Javier murmured in my ear, his voice warm and appreciative. "Where did you learn?"
I smiled, our movements synchronizing perfectly. "I've always loved dancing. I’ve been taking classes since I was a little girl."
Javier’s gaze grew intense, as if he was trying to read my thoughts. The song ended, and we separated slightly. I scanned the room, looking for Sarah, but Javier gently lifted my chin, making me face him.
"What was all of that about?" he asked, his eyes searching mine.
I feigned innocence. "What do you mean?"
Javier sighed, his expression softening. "I never wanted to press you to tell me everything, but I want to know now. Why were you acting like this?"
I hesitated, then took a deep breath. "I was jealous. I thought you and Sarah were flirting."
Javier’s laugh was warm, filled with reassurance. "Madison, I’m just yours. Sarah and I have nothing going on."
I bit my lower lip and moved closer to his ear. "I'll confess something to you, it's not just Sarah, I hate the way all the girls look at you."
I noticed his wet tongue trailing up my neck until it reached my earlobe, which he bit down on. "You think it's not the same with you? I'm about to go punch the guy at the bar who's been staring at you since you walked in."
I moved my face so I could bring our lips together in a kiss that could change the temperature of the whole club. "Come on, let's go get drunk," I took his hand to lead us to the table along with my companions.
The hours passed between laughs and drinks, Javier and I more and more glued together, my body needed his and I couldn't hide it anymore. I ended up with my legs on his while his hands caressed the entire length of them, sometimes reaching dangerous areas.
The people around us were looking at us at first, but they were already ignoring us, being each one of us busy with our own thing.
"My driver is waiting outside, for when you want to leave," Javier whispered in my ear.
I turned my face to look at him. "I'm very drunk," I confessed, the words tangling in my mouth. "And very horny."
He finished what was left of his drink and looked up at me smiling. "Me too, that's why I don't let you take your legs off, so no one can see my erection."
I noticed a nudge on my other side, and turned to see Sarah and Mark laughing. "Cut yourselves some slack won't you," she said amused. "You've been groping each other all night."
"Yeah, get a room you guys," Mark said prodding me.
I pointed my finger at Sarah and then at Mark. "He's mine," I warned them.
Javier carefully removed my legs and stood up. "You can tell," Mark raised his eyebrows sipping from his straw looking at Javi, and I glanced in his direction, my gaze settling on his noticeably bulging pants. "Good thing it's dimly lit and no one's looking."
I turned my gaze back to my friends sighing, and they laughed at the sight of my face. "I'm going home to fuck that man, I can't take any more."
"How disgusting you guys are," Sarah complained. "And it's so frustrating at how good you look together."
I winked at her and stood up. "Thanks for the party guys, I love you," I hugged them both from behind."
Javier grabbed my hand and pulled me in. "I'm stealing your boss, we have a little unfinished business," he said and pulled me away from them.
I was so drunk, I wanted him so bad.
