I woke up to the faint morning light filtering through the curtains, a dull ache spreading through every inch of my body. My surroundings were unfamiliar at first, and then the memories of last night came flooding back. We had ravaged each other in nearly every room of the house, finally passing out in the living room, me just in my panties, and Javier in a pair of shorts.
I was sprawled on the floor by the coffee table, my head resting on one of the cushions. How did we even end up here? I tried to piece it together: the bedroom, the hallway, the kitchen counter... We had truly explored every corner.
I looked over and saw Javier sleeping soundly next to me, his face relaxed and peaceful. His arm was draped across his chest, and he looked every bit as exhausted as I felt.
I groaned softly as I tried to move, feeling the strain in my muscles and the soreness between my legs. Everything hurt. I winced as I stood up, my legs shaking slightly. I spotted Javier's shirt on the floor and slipped it on, its familiar scent comforting me.
With great effort, I made my way to the couch and collapsed onto it, the cushions soft against my aching body. The sudden movement must have stirred Javier because he began to stretch, his whole body extending luxuriously.
He opened his eyes and smiled when he saw me. "Morning," he said, his voice husky with sleep.
I gave him a weak glare. "This is all your fault. I can't even stand up properly."
Javier laughed, a deep, rumbling sound that made me smile despite myself. "Sounds like it was a good night, then." He stood up and walked over to me, his movements smooth and unhurried.
I pouted, feeling every bit as sore as I claimed. "I need a whole bottle of pills. My head is killing me."
He chuckled again and headed to the kitchen. "How about I get you some water and a couple of painkillers instead?"
I nodded, closing my eyes and leaning back into the couch. The soft sound of water running and the rustling of pill bottles were comforting. A few minutes later, Javier returned with a glass of water and some pills. He handed them to me, and I gratefully swallowed them down.
Javier sat next to me, his hand gently rubbing my back. "You know, I could say the same about you. You weren't exactly gentle last night."
I could see all the scratches all over his body, and the marks from my hickeys.
I shot him a playful glare. "You didn't seem to mind."
He grinned, leaning in to kiss my forehead. "You're right. I didn't."
We sat there in comfortable silence for a while, the events of the night before still fresh in our minds. The connection we had shared was intense, and I could feel it lingering between us now. It wasn’t just about the physical aspect; there was something deeper, something that made me feel safe and cherished.
Javier's hand continued to stroke my back, his touch soothing. "How about we spend the day just relaxing? No work, no stress, just us."
I looked up at him, a smile tugging at my lips. "That sounds perfect."
He stood up and offered me his hand. "Come on, let's get you something to eat. You need to refuel after last night."
I took his hand and let him help me up. Every step was a reminder of our wild night, but I couldn’t help but feel a rush of happiness. We made our way to the kitchen, Javier's arm wrapped around my waist, supporting me.
As we settled into a comfortable breakfast, Javier's expression grew thoughtful. "Maddie, there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about."
I looked at him curiously. "What is it?"
He took a deep breath, as if gathering his thoughts. "Remember when I told you about my plan to open a new law department at my agency and asked if you'd consider leading it?"
I nodded, my curiosity piqued. "Yeah, I remember. I wasn't sure about it at the time."
Javier reached across the table, taking my hand in his. "I've been working on it in the background, talking to both Mark and Sarah about joining us. That's why Sarah and I were talking so much last night. We were finalizing some details."
A mix of emotions washed over me—relief, excitement, and a touch of guilt for my jealousy. "So, that's what you two were up to."
He nodded, his eyes sincere. "I wanted to have everything in place before bringing it up again. I didn't want to pressure you, but I also didn't want to leave you out of the loop."
I smiled, squeezing his hand. "Thank you for telling me. It means a lot."
Javier smiled, his eyes lighting up. "So, what do you think? Are you ready to join us and lead the team?"
"If I'm going to work at your agency, we can't show up every day with marks all over our bodies, people are going to be suspicious of us right away," I said looking at the marks on my wrists.
He took one of my hands to intertwine his fingers with mine. "And why do we have to hide?"
I shrugged looking at him. "They're not going to mess with me for fucking the CEO of the company?"
"They wouldn't dare, believe me," he said shaking his head. "And if anyone dares just let me know, I'll take care of the rest."
I drew a half smile on his face sitting hircajadas on him. "You're going to kill people just because of a woman you fuck?"
He caressed my cheek. "I would kill for you Madison," he confessed and I could feel butterflies in my stomach. "I love you, you know that, right?"
His words left me speechless. I could finally hear him say it. I even felt like I was going to get emotional, I was always sensitive after a night of sex.
"I hadn't heard you say it yet," I confessed and smiled combing his hair. "I love you too Javi."
He smiled widely putting my hair behind my ear. "So, will you join my agency?"
I took a deep breath, the weight of the decision settling on my shoulders. But looking into Javier’s eyes, I knew I had the support and confidence to make it work. "Yes, I'm ready. Let's do this."
Javier's smile widened, and he leaned in to kiss me. "I knew you'd come around. We're going to create something amazing together."
As we finished our breakfast, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and excitement. The future was bright, and with Javier by my side, I was ready to take on any challenge that came our way.
