Chapter 15

In a Galaxy far far away...

Queen Amidala of Naboo was facing a crisis, her planet had been blockaded by the Trade Federation and they were refusing to budge. She traveled to Coruscant and met the Senate only to be stopped by the Senate over of all things, bureaucracy. Worst of all was the sheer lack of care and blatant indifference displayed by many of the Senators, fortunately a few showed her some support, but that wasn't enough. 

She sat frustratedly in her apartment on Coruscant, pondering over her next course of action when she felt a presence in the back of the room. Looking back, she saw nothing, she turned around and gasped. In front of her was a tall figure in a black cloak, its face was masked by the shadows leaving her unable to identify it. The figure grabbed her hand preventing her from ringing security. She felt something leathery cover her mouth, after a couple of moments she stopped struggling and instead chose to stare at where she thought the eyes of this human was. 

"Be quiet, Queen Amidala, I'm not here to harm you" the figure removed his hand from her mouth and lowered his hood, to show a female in her 30s. Padme Amidala stared at the face of this unfamiliar person. Mustering up her courage she questioned "Who are you?"

The female shifted her cloak "My name is Octavia Summer, but while on the field you may address me as Agent Nightfall."

"Agent? what organization are you apart of?"

"I'm part of a galactic organization established 5 thousand years ago, which is dedicated to ensuring the continued survival of this galaxy and its inhabitants. We fight off any potential threats, from within and foreign".

Amidala narrowed her eyes "I'm assuming the fact you're approaching me is because of the Naboo Crisis?"

The agent smiled "Astute as ever, yes we have come to you not only for the Naboo Crisis, but other events that you'll have a role in later on in the future".

"Me? What other events do you speak of?" she looked confused at this.

"That will be discussed later, but for now we have a proposition for you, in exchange for your cooperation, we will solve the Naboo Crisis for you, and protect your planet from any further incursions later on in the future". 

Padme widened her eyes at this, just a few minutes ago she was fretting over the crisis yet now a solution had presented herself just like that! It felt to good to be true. "What sort of cooperation are we talking about here?"

"Oh nothing much, just some intelligence on some political figures, surveillance on a few of them if necessary, and diplomatic intervention from you if we need your help, again we are trying to create a mutually beneficial relationship, so we won't be to demanding. Also in exchange for your cooperation, we can make sure that the initiatives you want to push for succeed."

"So you want me to be your spy, no I won't do that, I won't betray my friends for my selfish desires" Padme spat.

"Don't worry we won't force you to do something you don't want to do, we just want to make sure that these politicians won't get away with any crimes they commit in the process. Surely you have noticed just how slow the Senate was in even hearing your case right? They even cast doubt onto your current plight, and refused to send much of an aide, only choosing to create a committee that who knows how long it would take for to finish this investigation. By the time its finished Naboo will be in the hands of the Trade Federation." The agent stated, confident that she'll see her way.

Padme still hesitated, she was unsure whether she should accept or not, on one hand this organization had dubious and shady origins which could ultimately spell doom for her and her planet, while on the other hand, Naboo was facing an invasion and her people could no longer wait much longer for the Senate to make a decision. Seeing her hesitation the agent said "I know you're hesitant to accept a shady offer, and I agree, I too would be pretty suspicious but it is very important that you accept Amidala. The current Galactic Republic, is a bloated, self important, narcissistic, corrupt, and incompetent bureaucracy, with no hope of ever turning things for the better. Already the signs of division are showing, just take a look at the recent disasters, first it was the Stark Hyperspace War, the Hutts and now Naboo. This is only a taste of what's to come Your Majesty, which is why I implore you to accept this offer. Because while it's too late to save the Galactic Republic, it is never too late to save the Galaxy."

She looked at the Queen with a saddened yet determined expression, Padme was moved by the speech she gave and let in "If that is the case, then I will accept your offer". The agent smiled, "Glad you made the right decision then. Now we can discuss how to get your planet out of it's situation" the agent pulled out holocom set it on the table and pressed a button. A hologram lit up displaying Naboo and several blips. She pointed at the red blips "These are the ships currently blockading your planet, among them are several Lucrehulk cargo freighters that were illegally modified. We have a ship on the outer edges of the system monitoring the current situation. In order for you to liberate your planet, we'll create a diversion for you to sneak in and make landfall. You will face several thousand Battle Droids surrounding the Palace."

"How am I going to get in the palace with that many of them?" she questioned.

"We will start a fire nearby to distract them, don't worry that area has been deserted and no one is living there, so the only collateral is a few buildings, after that you'll head into the palace, unfortunately, there is a Sith Apprentice by the name of Darth Maul, which means you'll need Jedi to help you out, after that you'll be able to get the Viceroy off the planet. Oh and another matter, before all of this you'll need to make a pit stop to Tatooine, there will be people on there that you need to meet, you'll also meet the Sith Apprentice Darth Maul. We need to make sure that the Jedi are aware of the Sith. There is also a boy who is strong in the Force on the planet, you'll meet him there to. Please keep this meeting a secret from everyone, including your handmaidens until a later date, its to early to let anyone else know" The agent finished, and shut off the holocom. She turned to leave but was stopped by Amidala "Wait, how am I going to get Jedi to help me?"

"Valorum will dispatch two Jedi to help you on this quest" Amidala calmed down knowing that she had the help of a Jedi. She suddenly remembered something "Wait you haven't told me your organizations name!". 

"Oh my bad, we are called the Office of Naval Intelligence, or ONI for short" and with that she raised her cloak and jumped out the window, disappearing into Coruscant's lower levels. 

"Office of Naval Intelligence.." she pondered, "That sounds lik-" her head shot up. "Did I just make a deal with a foreign government?" she asked to no one in particular. Padme laughed a little hysterically at her situation. 

"To late to turn back now."
