The next day spaghetti man walked into the room again. This time he had a little computer with him.
"Good morning. I have the results of the tests. We took fifty two tests for your blood. The only one we're still waiting on is the DNA test. It takes a little longer, but it should be ready at about lunch time." He told you. You just nodded.
He sat down on the bed next to you with his laptop balanced on his legs. He started scrolling though a long document, reading out parts to you. This went on for about ten minutes. You just zoned out though, only being able to think about Winter. You had no idea if he was safe and getting help with his injuries. There is also his bullet wound that, as far as you know, no one has looked at.
"Alright. Here are the results now." You perked up, leaning over the curly haired man's shoulder to read what was on the laptop. "You tested negative for all but two of these, but it's an easy fix. We'll get you on some antibiotics and you'll be able to be with the other inmates."
"Fantastic. Can I go now?" You asked, standing up.
"In a minute. I just want to ask you something first."
"Shoot."
"Why have you been so cooperative this whole time? Most people aren't."
"Well, what you have told me to do so far hasn't seen like a threat to the Red Room or HYDRA. Plus, I honestly don't see why this place is so bad. And what do you mean, 'most people aren't?""
"When we were doing this on your friend he was going crazy. We had to get a machine to hold him down, and even then he fought." You winced when you heard his words, remembering the screaming and the chair in HYDRA.
"Soldat. Sit." The weird man guided Soldat to the machine in the center of the room. He sat down, his gaze straight forward. People in lab coats bustled around him, one putting a black piece of plastic into his mouth.
"Ready!" A man said from something that looked like a control panel. The weird man gave him the thumbs up, and the man pressed a few buttons. Electricity was in the air, making your hair stand on end. All of a sudden, a piercing scream came from the Soldat.
"What are you doing to him?" You asked, trying to run forward to stop the machine. This earned you another slap.
"This is necessary. Now get used to this sight because you will be seeing a lot more of it." The Soldat was still screaming from his seat on the chair.
Finally, after what felt like hours, the screaming stopped. The electricity was gone. The soft wiring of the machine was dying down. The only sound in the room was the Soldat's panting.
The man from before was walking towards Soldat with a small red book in his hand.
"желаниe"
"Печь"
"рассвет"
"семнадцать"
"Доброкачественные"
"Девять"
"Возвращение домой"
"Один"
"грузовой вагон"
"Soldat?"
"я готов отвечать"
The man walked back to the panel, now just standing there.
"Go see him, little mouse." This nick-name bothered you some, but you listened, running up to the Soldat and latching onto his calf. As soon as you were hugging him you were tossed away by something. You landed hard on the floor, your already bruised body now aching.
"Soldat! That is no way to treat your guest! You need to bring her to someone for me, fully intact. There is a helicopter waiting for you in the launching room." Soldat stood up just as you did and walked towards you. He grabbed onto your collar and started to drag you out of the room. Since he was so much taller than you, you had a hard time keeping up. Tears were streaming down your face for many reasons, but mostly because you missed your bed. Your warm bed.
You and the Soldat come to a stop in front of a helicopter. There were two pilots in the front of it, both staring at you. The Soldat easily stepped up into the machine, but you couldn't reach. He lifted you by the scruff of your neck, setting you down in the chair beside him. He put his seat belt on and you followed suit. You didn't know where you were going, but you hoped it was home.
"Hello? Are you okay?" Spaghetti man asked. You shook your head, trying to get the images of the day out of your head.
"Um, yeah. Sorry. What were you saying?"
"I told you what happened when we were doing these tests on your friend, then you zoned out. Are you sure you're alright?"
"I'm fine. I remember now. What do I have to do?"
"If you'll follow me I'll bring you to your cell." He stood up and walked out of the room, leaving the door open. You followed him down the white halls, finally stopping in front of a door. The man opened it using a key card and guided you inside.
It was like an underground recreational yard. It was a big open space, two floors high. There was a small basketball court, tables, and cells outlined the walls. There was a stairway --- made out of metal --- to the top floor. It was only a small path around the whole room, cells branching off.
There was one thing that caught your eye though. A man was sitting alone at a table, his hands tightly clasped together. When you walked in, his eyes flickered to meet you, his left swollen.
"Soldat!" You yelled as you ran to him. You stopped right before you touched him, making sure to still be respectful of his boundaries as he was to yours. "I thought you were gone."
"I thought you were. What happened?" He asked, turning to face you. You heard the door close behind you with a clang.
"I don't know. One second I was talking to that Steve guy, then the next I was laying on a bed three days later. I can't remember much." You sighed, wanting to change the subject. "The doctor that I came in with said that you were a pain in the ass."
"Well they were trying to poke me with needles. It was very maddening."
"Well he said that you kept resisting! Come on Soldat. They were only doing harmless tests." Winter turned his head away.
"That 'Steve guy' was talking to me about knowing me. It's weird. I feel like I should remember him but I can't." This sudden change in subject surprised you.
"Well, if you can't remember, then there's a reason. Or he's just messing with you." Winter nodded, still not looking convinced. "Well I'm hungry. Let's find some food."
