21.

Crash

You wake up to the sound of something breaking. You don't know what it is, but you can hear people screaming from afar. There is yelling and banging, then the sound of the elevator. You quickly get out of bed and walk towards your door, peaking around the frame to see who is coming out of the elevator. It was Steve.

"Troop! Troop! You have to get out of here!" Steve shouted as he ran towards you.

"Why? What's happening?" Steve grabs your arm but doesn't answer. He pushes you into the elevator and presses the button with the 'RF' on it. "Why are we going to the roof?"

All of a sudden the elevator lurches to a stop. The number above the door says '76,' still very far away from the roof. The doors open and five men in black HYDRA uniforms are standing there.

The first one lunges at you but Steve quickly punches him out of the way. The second goes for Steve who is already preoccupied with the first man. Two others are on you, punching and kicking. Nothing touches you though. You kick one of the men in his jaw, sending him to the floor. You punch the other one in the stomach than the face. He also flies to the ground and you stop on his head, knowing his jaw broke when you felt that satisfying crack. You look over to Steve who is now working on the last guy along with the second man. You pull the last one away by his collar and punch him in the face. He tries to punch you back but you jump away just in time, and send a kick to his groin. He bends over in pain, so you grab the hair on the back of his head and force it to your knee that is coming up to meet it. He falls to the floor, unconscious.

Steve looks at you when he has finally knocked his two guys out. He has a red spot on his face that is already starting to bruise, and a scratch in his clothes.

"Come on. We'll have to take the stairs the rest of the way." He says, grabbing your wrist again. You yank it from his grip and he turns around.

"What about Winter?" You ask him. "What will happen to him?"

"I don't know." Steve tells you. "But he'll be fine. We have lots of Shield agents in the prison, and even more in the hallways. He will be fine."

"No he won't!" You yell. Steve looks slightly taken aback, but you don't care. "HYDRA is here looking for me and Winter. And I never thought I'd say this, but I don't want to be a part of HYDRA anymore! I don't want to work for the Red Room anymore either. Now that someone has actually given me a nice room, a place to stay, treated me well, I don't want to go back to that never-ending torture! And I know Winter doesn't either. If we go back they will wipe his memory, and maybe even mine. I am not giving that a chance. I won't let them take him back. If you don't want to come, then fine. But I'm going with or without you."

You storm to the stairwell, ripping the door open and starting to jog down the steps. You soon hear another set of footsteps behind you and you smile slightly.

You and Steve jogged all the way from the 76th floor to the basement where the prison is. You do run into a few HYDRA agents, but you were easily able to fight them all off. When you and Steve reach the 2nd floor, you stop. You  can hear the sounds of fighting in the lobby. People are screaming, guns are going off, and other sounds of battle can be heard. A few floors up when you knocked a man out you grabbed his hand gun and a few clips.

"Wait a second." You tell Steve. "Give me your phone." He listens and hands over his phone, unlocking it first. "How do you work that Bluetooth thing?"

Steve looks a bit worried, but he helps you to connect to the speakers in the lobby.
