Noel reached Main Gate, he hopped off the train and wandered around. He saw Jazz and Mary talking. Noel walked over to them, “Hey, guys!” he called out. Mary saw Noel, and she smiled with enthusiastic manner, “Noel! Hi!” she said, Jazz said a brief “Hey.”. Noel explained what happened in Beta, the two listened carefully. “So... There's this guy who's fighting Derek?” Mary asked, Noel nodded, “I just hope Derek is okay.” Jazz said, “What do we do?” Noel asked, Jazz shrugged his shoulders, as if to say "I don't know". A train got destroyed out of the blue behind them. The three turned around, seeing flames everywhere, and people screaming and running. The fire was a lot, and from that Derek got sent out, falling on the ground with some bruises. “Derek!” Mary screamed, Noel started to run among the people running away. He picked up Derek and carried him away. He was unconscious. Noel placed Derek on the ground. “It's not too bad.” Jazz said while inspecting the injuries, fortunately they were only superficial. “I wonder how he didn't get... Burnt.” Mary said, “Magic, maybe.” Noel replied. Derek's hair looked straight, not spiky upwards. Noel looked up, there still were the flames, but nobody. Derek woke up, and got on his feet. “Ugh, darn...” he said frustrated, “You're okay.” Mary said while smiling. “He didn't even tell me his name.” Derek said, “It's fine, let's get out of here.” Jazz replied, they walked away. They went to one of the garden of roses nearby. Derek sat down on a bench, exhausted, having difficutly to speak because of the heavy breath he had. Jazz was a little worried. “You fought a lot...” he said, “It seems that... huff... he told you everything, huh?” Derek replied, looking at Jazz with tired expression. “Of course he did!” Mary exclaimed, “We care about you.” she added with an angry look on her face. Derek smiled at Mary's expression, “How cute, hah.” he said sarcastically. Jazz did a long sigh, “You lost in the end.” he said. Derek looked at Jazz, “At least it was fun.” he replied. The expressions of the three were a little surprised. “Didn't have a Mage Fight like this from the last year tournament, heh.” he added chuckling. “Mage... Fight?” Mary repeated, a little confused, since she was from a village, she didn't know much about these things. “Mage Fight, a tournament that takes place every year after the end of the academy of the Wizard Junior Academy, to see who's the strongest mage in the five classes.” Jazz explained, “Oh, got it!” Mary replied while nodding. Noel turned to Derek, surprised. “You partecipated?!” he asked, incredulous, Derek nodded, “I arrived third, what a shame.” he replied. Then all three at once, “Third?!”. Derek smiled at their reactions. “Yup, in a tournament of I think three thousand students.” he said, “THREE THOUSANDS?!” The three exclaimed, “I can't believe it...” Noel said, “It's absurd.” Mary added, “Eh, right.” Jazz murmured. Derek got his energy back, but remained sat on the bench. “Hey, Noel.” he called out, “Mh?” Noel replied, looking at Derek, he was with his classical arrogant smile. “I want to see you in the next tournament.” he said, Noel's eyes went a little wide, “Wh..why?” he asked, “I want to see if you can arrive at the finals,” Derek replied, “who knows, maybe we could fight.” he added. Noel smiled, he was determined, “Count me in.” he said. “Good, I really want to see you battle.” Derek replied. “How strong do you think you are as a mage?” Jazz asked, “I'm on the average.” Derek replied. “Don't you think it's not much? From what I saw you were over powered.” Noel retorted, “That was nothing.” Derek answered, then got up. “I'm hungry, do you want to eat something?” Jazz asked, “Why not, let's go!” Noel replied, Mary and Derek also agreed. Thus, they went in a local resturant to eat and drink something. After getting out of the café, the sun was setting, the sky was of a red and orange, everyone stopped to watch the sunset. “It's beautiful, isn't it?” Jazz said while smiling, “Yeah, I could stay here and watch this for hours.” Noel said, “Agreed.” Mary added, “Been a while I saw such a thing, makes my day less heavy.” Derek said. Then they returned to wander around the streets of Main Gate, while talking altogether. They had a nice noon together, and the night was approaching. The street lamps started to turn on, and everybody were going back home. Derek went in the train station, while the others took different paths. “I'm home!” Noel said while he walked inside, and closing the door behind. The mother when she saw Noel she gave hugged him. “Darling! You're back!” she said, and let go of him. “I was so worried, but you're okay, fortunately.” she added while patting his head. “Yep, I told you I'd be fine, no?” Noel said, his mom nodded. “Come, I prepared dinner.” she told him. Noel went to eat dinner, and went to lay down in bed after. And this also this day, was full of events. Noel thinking about all the things that happened fell asleep. Derek was on the train, returning to Beta, and the fight came back in his mind. Derek dodged the orb thrown by the boy, but got hit by a kick afterwards, “Ugh, I didn't know you could fight with bare hands..” Derek said, he had a bruise on the chin, and started to back away. “A mage like me can fight hand to hand. I don't recommend to get too close, you could end up in a blood pulp.” the guy warned. Derek threw two fireballs towards him. But he dodged them with ease, then dashed forward to get closer. Derek managed to grab the boy and catapult him, then backed down, with cautious expression, his muscles started to tense, this only meant that Derek was getting serious. The guy got back up, and clapped his hands that the sound stunned Derek. At that point he got hit by a hook right in the face that made him snap out of it. He dodged a kick and did a backflip to not fall, since the boy wanted to sweep Derek's feet off the floor. “Stop hesitating, fight me like you fought in the tournament.” said the boy with impatient tone. Derek did a small sigh, charged two blue spheres and fused them in one, then ran towards the boy, to get closer and hit him with the orb, but he dodged and made Derek fly away, they were near a train station. The boy threw a fireball toward the station, setting it on fire while Derek was falling towards it. With a spell he made the flames disperse, and fall to the other side on the ground, he fell on the floor. He got up and saw the guy in front of him, before that everything turned white, then normal again. Derek saw himself flying towards more flames, and with the few energy he had left made the fire disperse once more. At this point he couldn't remain conscious, from the falls and hits he got. The last things he saw before losing his senses were the flames in front of him, and a feminine voice call out his name. Derek snapped out of his thoughts, then sighed a little, “It seems we got someone else to stop.” he said. We don't know how many other problems will Noel and his friends encounter, it has to be seen.
