The days after passing Norbert off to to Charlie's and school life went by agonizingly slow to the point of Regulus going to professor flitwick and asked for tips in the art of dueling and reluctantly flitwick obliged and showed Regulus a few charms that weren't in the standard book of spells but many of the students were hesitant on approaching Regulus but Fred and George were just as friendly with him as the first day and but once again Regulus was in the library with his notes on the process of being a animagus after about a hour of researching professor mcgonagall once again found Regulus. " Mr lestrange surely you have found everything you need." Mcgonagall said as Regulus looked up and smiled. "Indeed professor mcgonagall but I just like being thorough one cannot be to careless especially with the art of human transfiguration." Regulus said as he sat back and looked out the window and mcgonagall followed his line of sight and saw the quidditch pitch and she could make out small figures flying around when she remembered that it was practice for Gryffindor.
"I see but Mr lestrange you have me concerned." Mcgonagall said as she sat down infront of Regulus as he looked at her and mcgonagall took a sharp breath as mcgonagall saw in the depth of Regulus black eyes. She saw a faint light of desperation and insanity, one she recognized in the eyes of only one other, that person being none other than Regulus own mother Bellatrix. "With what professor?" Regulus asked as mcgonagall who's folded her on the table as she sighed. "Mr..... No Regulus you are by far one of the more talented wizards I have instructed and I couldn't be prouder of the effort you have shown." Mcgonagall said as Regulus' eyes widened and the flicker of insanity outs as Regulus blushed from the unexpected praise as mcgonagall didn't normally give them out. "That being said Regulus you are pushing yourself a little to hard." Mcgonagall said as Regulus nodded. "I know professor but everyone still avoids me." Regulus said as mcgonagall nodded. "Yes but interaction is a two way path." Mcgonagall said bluntly as Regulus nodded. "So go make some friends." Mcgonagall said as she stood up and walked out of the library leaving Regulus alone with his thoughts.
After spending some time thinking Regulus gathered his things and walked through the hallways before coming across Draco Malfoy talking with Susan bones and a few others Regulus didn't recognize. "Lestrange." Malfoy said as Regulus nodded in greeting. "Malfoy to what do I owe to pleasure?" Regulus asked as Malfoy shrugged. "We weren't really looking for you but we were just talking about the Wizengamot meeting but while your here mind answer why you haven't been attending?" Malfoy asked as Regulus tilted his head in confusion. "Wizen what?" Regulus asked as everyone looked at as it made sense. "You are aware that you are the heir to the house of lestrange correct?" Susan asked as Regulus shook his head. "Not really I knew there are noble houses but I was never sure what they did." Regulus said as Malfoy walked up and placed his hand on Regulus shoulder. "i guess it's time you learned after all we are cousins so I'll be in charge of your tutoring meet me in the library after dinner there I'll explain how the houses vote and how the heirs affect the votes." Malfoy said as Regulus nodded before frowning. "What do you mean by cousins?" Regulus asked as Malfoy started walking away. "Our mother's are sisters." Malfoy said as Regulus raised his eyebrow.
Later after dinner and Regulus and Draco were in the library going over public transcripts off previous meetings. "Some remind me why they want to ban old magic?" Regulus asked as he read over a bill that was denied. " Mainly because it's something that they can't control and as such most believe it be better not to have it at all because greater than most of the old magic is dark." Draco said as he looked over the most recent transcript. "That's stupid magic is magic just because it is light or dark shouldn't matter at the end of the day it comes down to the witch or wizard using it." Regulus said as Draco looked up with a impressed expression. "Rather deep thinking." Draco said as Regulus chuckled. "Maybe but then again maybe not it is the same as a person no one is born evil they are made evil by their surroundings." Regulus said before yawning. "Welp I think I got the bases of how this all works. So I'm heading back to the common room and get some shut eye." Regulus said as he stood up as Draco nodded. "I'm surprised you took to this rather quickly." Draco said as he to stood up. "How I'm just barely understanding it but it's nearly 9pm and I would rather avoid filch." Regulus said as he and Draco walked out the library and he taped a craving on the wall and the wall slide open. "This should take you to the dungeon without being seen." Regulus said as he kept walking. "Thanks." Draco said before heading down the secret passage before it closed.
The following week went by rather smooth as Regulus was starting to hang around the other heirs and slowly was making more friends but eventually Neville walked up to Regulus at diner. "Hey Regulus Mcgonagall gave me my detention form I'm to report to the main hall tomorrow night at 11pm." Neville said as Regulus looked up while chewing his dinner and nodded showing he heard before Neville walked away. "Regulus." A voice called as Regulus looked forward to see Harry, Ron and Hermione looking down at their plates. "Yes?" Regulus asked as the great hall seemed to quieten down as Hermione took a deep breath. "We would like to apologize for how we treated you myself even more so as I cast that disfigurement spell, i Choose to believe to words of others over talking to you and for that I'm sorry." Hermione said as Regulus nodded and looked at Ron. "I'm also sorry for lashing out at you the way I did it was uncalled for." Ron said as Regulus glanced at Harry. "I'm sorry for not stepping in to stop it as a guy that knows what it's like to be picked on I should have recognized what I was doing." Harry said as Regulus chuckled slightly as they looked up at him in confusion. "What's so funny?!" Ron questioned slightly annoyed. "The fact that you think I wanted to you to apologize. I knew I would have it rough because of my bloodline and I swore to myself that I would take all the hate without complaining, so long as you don't do it again then all's forgiven." Regulus said as he tilted his head and gave a smrik as the trio smile. "That said it doesn't mean I won't come up with a harmless prank to get even." Regulus said as Harry and Ron laugh while Hermione rolls her eyes but she still smiled.
The following night Regulus walked beside Neville. "So Regulus I hear you are studying to take your house seat?" Neville asked as Regulus nodded. "Yes I figure if I want to pull my family reputation out of the Azkaban sewers I better start with the more political things." Regulus said as Neville patted his shoulder. "Well then I'll help out where I can. Oh and it's long overdue but thanks for catching me in our first flying class." Neville said as Regulus smiled and nodded while they rounded a corner to find filch and Draco. "Come on you lot." Filch said as the three of the students followed behind him as he groaned about past punishments but they ignored him.
