The time of exams had arrived and it was a rough but Regulus managed to pass with top marks especially when it came to transfiguration. Professor McGonagall had them transfigure a mouse into a snuffbox with bonus points depending on how pretty it was but minus points of it had whiskers. Regulus had turned a brown mouse into a beautiful ornate gold snuff box with a etching of the starry night sky on the lip for a perfect score and 20 bonus points for the extra details. The rest of the exams went by rather easily in Regulus's opinion well the hardest one was the forgetfulness potion for snape as said professor walked around nearly breathing down every ones neck but luckily everyone passed even Goyle by some grace but the moment snape released them for the day Regulus walked up to the potions master. "Thank you for the insightful year professor." Regulus said as he had thanked each of his professors but this compliment slightly startled the potions master.
"Um you are welcome Mr lestrange." Snape drolled as Regulus rubbed his neck. "Um professor if it is ok may I pick your brain about something's?" Regulus asked as snape sat behind his desk and he rolled his hand for Regulus to continue. "You professor when I haven't been doing homework I have been researching the animagus process and I know a place to collect the unsoiled dew but do you know where one would find a deathshead hawk moth chrysalis?" Regulus asked as snape raised a eyebrow. "You aren't planning on preforming the spell currently are you Mr lestrange?" Snape asked as Regulus shook his head. "Absolutely not professor I already gave my word to Professor McGonagall that I would not attempt it until my third year but that does not mean I can start the research and locating the ingredients." Said Regulus as snape visually relaxed.
"I see. You are a very diligent person Mr lestrange the chrysalis of the deaths head hawk moth can be found in some park or home gardens in England but they are not easily found as they are underground." Snape explained as Regulus nodded. "Once again thank you professor." Regulus said before walking out of the classroom leaving snape in a slightly better mood but he wouldn't admit it. As Regulus walked down the corridor heading towards a a courtyard only for Harry, Ron and Hermione came sprinting up. "Snape already knows how to get past fluffy!" Harry said as Regulus blinked in confusion. "Who's fluffy?" Regulus asked as they realized they never told him. "Well fluffy is a giant three headed dog." Ron said as Regulus blinked before pinching the bridge of his nose. "Of course I forgot our ground keeper loves dangerous creatures." Regulus groaned before looking up. "Anything other bad news for me?" Regulus sarcasticly asked only to be disappointed. "Dumbledore has left the castle so snape will try tonight." Harry said as Regulus just facepalms and sighed.
Later that night after dinner Regulus sat infront of the fireplace reading a book while the gang sat against the window as people slowly trickled to bed Eventually Lee Jordan walked up to the stair way to the dorms and shortly after Ron snuck upstairs and came down with Harry's invisibility cloak. "Where are you going?" Neville's voice sounded as he stepped infront of the tunnel to leave the common room before Regulus could come up with a lie Hermione pointed her wand at Neville and cast the full body bind spell. "Sorry mate I didn't want to do this." Regulus said before they left Harry threw the cloak over the four of them to their surprise and so they made their way to the third floor. "Wait I know a short cut." Regulus hissed as the sounds of armor was clicking and Regulus tapped a wall and it opened up and they made their way and came out on the third floor. "How did you know that was there?" Hermione asked as Regulus shook his head. "Not now." Regulus said as they slipped in a door to find a giant three headed dog fast asleep with a miniature harp playing soft music. "To late snape bet us here." Harry whisper as he pulled out a flute from his back pocket. "Let me I know a few song." Regulus whispered as the harp slowly stopped playing. As the fluffy started to growl in the process of waking up Regulus place the flute to his lips and gently blew air across the mouthpiece.
The soft and gentle tune Regulus played quickly lulled the massive dog back to sleep as the giant dog slept the trio open a trap door. "Right I'll go first should anything happen get out and get a letter to Dumbledore." Harry said as Ron and Hermione started trying to protest which made Regulus roll his eyes before walking over to the trio still playing the flute and used his foot to push Harry down the trap door and shot a glare at the other two which ended the following argument as they quickly followed Harry. Regulus positioned himself at the trap door and while still playing the flute he step over the trap door and fell straight down as the sound of fluffy's bark echoed down the hole.
After some time Regulus landed across from the trio and tossed Harry his flute back. "Well that was fun." Regulus said as he felt something slither across his leg and in a flash and his wand was out and the tip was glowing white illuminating the room. "Lumos." Regulus said the charm as the slithering stopped and he stood up. "What was that?" Ron asked as the trio gathered around Regulus. "Devil snare we learned about it in herbology or hate the light." Hermione said as they walk over to a door and found themselves in a room with multiple keys flying around and several brooms leaned against the wall. "Look there is the door." Ron said as he and Hermione jogged over to the door. "Blast it's locked." Ron cursed as Harry and Regulus stood in the center looking up at the keys. "Alohamora!" Hermione said as she tried the unlocking charm. "Nothing it was worth a shot." Hermione moaned. " Then we have to find the right key." Harry said as he and Regulus walked over and grabbed a broom.
"It should be a old key sliver like the handle." Hermione said as she turned away from the door as she and Ron watched as Regulus and Harry take off at full speed flying around the room with extreme agility. "There is see it! Reg it is on your right!" Harry shouted as Regulus quickly braked while turning hard to his right drifting his broom before blitzing towards the key which barely sucked out of his grasp. "Damn! Harry on your left coming quickly!" Regulus shouted as he tucked into a roll as he feet land on the wall before he shot to Harry's right with his hand down while Harry raced towards Regulus's left with his hand up as they past each other the key flew into Harry's hand. After the dou landed they started laughing. "That was fun we should race when we get the chance." Harry said as he and Regulus walked over to the door. "Haha agreed Harry although I'll have to buy me a nimbus 2000 to make it a fair race." Regulus laughed as Harry put the key in the keyhole unlocking the next trail.
