Johnny's POV

As the days past, it was Friday? Or thursday.. can't really remember, I think the baloney got to me. My head kinda ached, as I sat in one of the old pews. I groaned, as I gathered enough strength to pull myself up. Pony was outside, the sky was all sorts of colors. I walked out rubbing my head, leaning on a old fence. Ponyboy lost in thought, he didn't notice me next to him.

"That sure is pretty man. What's it called.?"

I turned to face him.

"A sunset."

Sunset. They sure are pretty, when the colors are all mixing together.

"The gold is the best part though."

I said staring at it, the gold and silver mixed with a rose color.

"Too bad it can't stay like this all the time."

I said as I looked at pony, he was trying to blow a ring with his smoke.

"Nothing gold can stay."

He said looking at me.

"What?"
I tilted my head, looking into his eyes for a reaction.

"Natures first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; but only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf, so Eden sank to grief, so dawn goes down today. Nothing gold can stay"

He said, looking back at the sky, now fading losing some gold as the rose started to take over.

"Where'd you learn that?"

I said moving closer to him.

"Robert frost wrote it, he meant more than what I got from it."

He went into thought

"You know, your family sure is funny."
I said sitting on the grass.

"What's funny about it?"
He said stiffly.

"Sodas a spitting image of your mom, but acts like your dad. And Darry looks almost exactly like your dad, but isn't wild like him, he's like your mother. But you pony, don't act like either one.."

He thought for a minute.

"Well you don't act like any of the gang either, I mean I couldn't tell Steve, two-bit or Darry about the sunrise. I couldn't rember the poem around them. They don't dig, just you and soda. Maybe cherry valence?" He said breaking the silence.

I shrugged "yeah, we're just different, huh pony?"

"Shoot, maybe they are?"
He said as he finally nailed his smoke rings.

*later*

That night I couldn't sleep, all I could think about was that poem, I tried my hardest to understand it, it just wouldn't cross my mind. 'Nothing gold can stay."
What did he mean..?

THE END.

(Omg. I tried to keep it mainly about the sunset, but it almost made it to where we see Dallas again. This didn't take long tho and it's a short one. Hopefully yall like it! Thanks for reading!!!)
