The next day at the lab, it was empty. Everyone had been given the day off so Elena could train without fear of hurting anyone. "Ok, it seems your powers are linked to your emotions. That can be a good thing, but you need to control your emotions. Say for instance you're angry, you can channel that anger and use that to fuel your power." Elena nodded. "Also, if you can find something to keep you grounded, like, an object or a person that calms you, think about the person, or, if it's an object, wear it or keep it on you."
"Ok. So, what do you want me to do?"
"Whatever you're comfortable with. It's all up to you." She nodded and decided to focus her energy on creating another ice wall, which seemed to be the easiest thing other than ice cubes and snowballs. She was only successful in creating a wall that rose about 6 inches off of the ground. When she looked at it, she frowned. "This is a good start. Keeping doing whatever you want, just make sure to focus on what it is you want."
"Ok." Elena made several snowballs, then some ice cubes, and got the idea to make hard snow bricks to make an igloo. It wasn't very big, and it wasn't complete, but she managed to get the groundwork right. "Can we take a break?"
"Sure." She sat down in a chair and drank some water.
"I know it may not seem like much, but, focusing so hard, it drains me."
"I know. We can work up to it." He smiled. "If you want, we can stop for today and watch a movie in the lab."
Elena smiled. "What movie?"
"Oldies."
"Deal." She smiled brightly and they walked back to the lab. Elena sat in a chair while Harrison got the equipment to watch a movie. He also ran to get popcorn and soda. "Thanks."
"You're welcome."
"I don't just mean for the movie, or even today. You've been nice to me. It's...been a while since anyone has been nice to me. Outside of my parents and my best friend, of course." Elena stared off into space, remembering the 'incident' back in her mid-teens with her ex-boyfriend...
"Elena?"
"Huh?"
"You ok?" His brows furrowed and concern was written on his face.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Let's watch the movie." He nodded and clicked the remote.

Harrison knew something was off. She seemed scared for a moment, but it went away almost as quickly as it came. He had a sense that someone hurt her.
By the end of the movie, her mood had lightened considerably and even had him laughing. "Thank you for today."
He smiled. "What was that earlier?" She raised her eyebrows in question. "When you spaced out."
