Xylia's POV

Look, I promise I'm not crazy.

Even though this stupid teacher is concerned that I am, because I talk to myself. But I promise, I'm not crazy. If there were other demigods I would talk to them, no human can know that monsters exist.

My mom sits beside me in the guidance room, nodding along to whatever the counsellor says. She knows I'm not crazy, I've been going to camp since I was six, also my Mamma gave me life, literally.

I tap my foot against the ground repeatedly while the woman tells my mom I made need a physc evaluation. I roll my eyes and look out the window. The monster isn't swarming the building anymore, thankfully. It was a hydra I saw this morning, I'm glad all my exams are done so I can just go to camp.

The counsellor gives my mom a sheet with mental health care centres and their address and we leave. I get into the front seat of the car and place my backpack on my lap. "Did you have to talk out loud?" My mom asks taking the road out of the city.

"I didn't mean to," I sigh and hug my backpack closer.

I can't help it, I'm a demigod, while kinda. My mother is the one and only Goddess of The Hunt. She gave a piece of her immortal life force so I could live. I was a stillborn baby and she brought my mom to the hospital after my birth father gave up on her.

I know Olympus considers me a demigod and the daughter of Artemis, even though, it was traditionally not proper. But Athena's children are born from her ideas so.

My mortal mom is amazing, she is the best person in the whole world, she is an amazing lawyer and is working on saving the wildlife case, curtesy of the goddess that gave me life.

A couple years after I was born, Mom found my Dad, and no he's not the same person who partly created me. His name is Jacob and he is my dad, he works as a welder for the city, he's even taught me how to weld, it really impresses the Hephtaus kids at camp. He adopted me this year and I couldn't be happier, that was the best Christmas ever.

I also have a little brother, his name is Henry and he's four years younger than me. He's a mortal but one of the cutest ones.

We have two dogs named Cola, an energetic pit bull, and Pepsi, a more calm Rottweiler.

Right me, I have red hair, which apparently changed when my Mamma gave me life. My eyes are blue, I live in a small town right outside New York City, I could almost walk straight into the city, that's how close we are.

My name is Xylia which means from the forest. Yeah, my mamma picked it out, it fits well though. I'm grandfather's favourite demigod, which gives me a bit more protection than others, though being Zeus favourite, isn't really something to brag about.

My grandmother, Leto is a bit clingy and I usually try to stay away from her. I've been to Olympus a couple of times with camp and my Mamma.

My Mamma, she's also the best. Even though she's said to be very vengeful which she still is, she actually super caring. She visits me at least once a month, sometimes I go with her and the Hunters of Artemis on trips.

The Hunters of Artemis, they're like my sisters, but the person I'm closest to is Zoe. I'm almost her physical age now, even though she's actually like 2000 years old. Sometimes we fight, mostly because she gets annoyed by how much power I have, even though it's not my fault.

My powers range far, I can talk to all wild animals, and they all love me. I am able to turn people into animals even though it takes, a lot of energy and the last time I was out for three days. Nature is known to help me out, like a Disney princess. I can heal extremely quickly, I'm able to tell us the exact coordinates of where we are in the wild. Also immune to any venom or poison that comes from the wild.

My aim with a bow and arrow is particularly amazing. Never missed a shot, and my bows not even enchanted it's just a camp bow and a quiver of celestial bronze tipped arrows that I keep in the closet.

"Xylia," my mom taps my knee and I turn to her, "I called your name like three times."

"Sorry mom. What did you need?" I place my head on top of my backpack.

"I asked you why'd did you talk out loud, and what monster was chasing you?" She looks between the road and me, concerned.

"I didn't know she was listening and it was  hydra so I was kind of panicking." I dig through my backpack and pull out a fruit roll up. I open it and just stare at the road ahead.

"You know I love you, right?" My mom turns out of the city.

"I know, I love you too." I smile as we pull into my driveway.

I am the one and only daughter of the goddess Artemis, and this year it looks like I'm going to camp early this year.
