Hi, I'm a Hunter of Artemis, and it sucks not fully being a "proper" halfblood, so I wrote a story where you can be a daughter and Artemis is still a maiden. Enjoy.
A heavily pregnant woman is sitting on the subway in the middle of New York City. Her hand rubs her belly softly almost like she is trying to comfort the unborn child. The bus jerks and she grabs onto a pole to steady herself.
Unexpectedly her stomach clenches and she cry's out in pain. The next stop she gets off, screw trying to find her ex boyfriend, the father of the child she was now carrying. Her stomach clenches again and she doubled over in pain.A red haired woman notices the poor lady in pain and walks over to help. Just as she touches her shoulder, the pregnant woman's water breaks. "Are you alright?" The red head asks.
The woman shakes her head and tears fall down her face as she notices she has gone into labour. The other woman takes her hand in hers and lifts up the others woman face to make eye contact with her. "Let's get you up to the hospital," she puts the woman's arm over her shoulder and helps her up the stairs.
Once up, the women call for a taxi, one pulls over and they both get in as the woman has another contraction. "Hospital fast." The woman says to the gray sisters who on are driving the taxi.
"Of course my Lady." One of the days and they speed off. My Lady was a term of respect for the Goddess. She felt bad for having to leave her hunters for a bit, but this woman needed help. And most men are too stupid to do anything. Well that was in her opinion.
They arrived at the hospital where the goddess half carried the woman into the emergency room. "You mortal," she points at a nurse who looks confused with her term. "She's gone into labour and needs to be seen now." She demands her voice clear and collected.
"Of course," the nurse says grabbing a wheel chair and helping the lady into it. She has another contraction as she sits down.
"Why does it have to hurt?!" She screams and grabs the goddess hand. The goddess lets her. Though she will never experience this she is the goddess of child birth.
They are whisked into a room where nurses stop down the woman and start to do vital signs. "The pregnant woman, turns to the goddess. "Thank you, I feel so bad I don't even know your name," she squeezes her hand hard and her face screws up in pain as she has another contraction.
"Well mortal," the goddess smiles, "My name is Artemis, goddess of the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, childbirth and chastity."
"No way," the mortal turns to the goddess. Artemis just nods.
"What's your name mortal?"
"Robin Fali."
"Good to meet you Robin."
The nurse comes back into the room quickly when the machines start to beep crazily. She looks at the charts and gasps. She peaks at the Robin. "You need to start pushing now. A doctor runs into the room and crouches ready to catch the baby.
Robin screams as she pushes but the goddess is not phased. She gives one particularly hard push and suddenly the doctor has a baby in her arms, except that she isn't smiling. There is no cry, the room is silent. Then Robin starts to cry, "No, no please, let her be alive. Tell me she's alive." The doctor shakes her head. Robin cries into her hands. The goddess holds out her arms for the baby.
"At least let her say goodbye," she whispers. The doctor reluctantly hands over the limp child. She leaves along with the nurse. Artemis hands the child to Robin. "Hold her for me," Robin holds her dead baby and cries. Artemis places a thumb on the child's forehead.
"What are you doing?" Robin looks to the thumb on her child's head.
"Giving her a chance," her thumb starts to glow and then the child starts to glow, her brown hair slowly turning red. The child's eyes flutter open. A cry falls from her mouth. Artemis removes her thumb.
The doctor rushes into the room, seeing the crying baby in her mother's arms she whispers, "It's a miracle, the gods are good." Artemis smiles at her last comment.
The doctor takes the baby out of the room to check her vitals and weight. Robin turns to Artemis, "What did you do?"
"I gave her a piece of my life force, just enough for her to live a long healthy life, but I want you to know she is going to be special, she'll develop talents you can't imagine." Artemis stares at the curtain waiting for the nurse to come back with her now supposed daughter. She hopes her father is watching what's happening.
"Do you want to name her?" Robin ask. The goddess shouldn't be as taken back as she was. At any other time she would have demanded the child be raised by her and she would name it and care for it, but it was something about this mortal that the thought hadn't even crossed her mind.
"Xylia, it means from the forest." The goddess smiles at Robin who's eyes light up when the name is mentioned.
"That's perfect. Will you be in her life?" Robin looks at Artemis expectantly.
"Yes. There will be times when only I can help her and I will not abandon my only child I'll ever have." The nurse comes back with the child and places her into to Robin's waiting arms.
"Hello, Xylia. Welcome to the world." She places her forehead against the child's and sighs. A faint outline of a bow and arrow glows in the middle of her forehead. Artemis smiles. She walks over and places her head against the child's.
"I must leave, I have other duties to attend to. I will come visit." Artemis pulls the curtain ready to step out of the room, but turns "Oh, hospital bills are paid for and she'll call me Mamma." She points at sleeping Xylia.
"Thank you, my Lady." Robin bows her head at the goddess.
"You're welcome," and then she disappears, leaving a smiling Robin with a bundle of joy in her arms."
Robin married an amazing man named Jacob two years later and now has a son Henry along with Xylia, who loves her Dad and brother. She went to camp at 6 because a certain mare/nymph chased after her. Has always come back for school, sees her Mamma at least 12 times a year. Good friends with Zoe and Annabeth. Usually hangs out with her quarter siblings in the Apollo cabin.
I hope this seems a reasonable way to be a child of Artemis. This was actually so fun to write and I'm looking forward to write more.
What's your cabin, likely Artemis since you are reading this but if you aren't please tell me, your name and cabin I can add you in.
