xiao's pov:
"venti, xiao. wake up." the world began to shake and i shut my eyes tight, making sure to keep myself grounded. when i felt the shaking stop i opened my eyes slowly; i was in bed next to venti, and zhongli was looking at us.

"venti, xiao. i think i found a cure." i turned my head to look over at venti and he looked over at me, then we both looked back at zhongli. "that's great." venti exclaimed with a smile. "what is it?" i asked, wanting this thing to be over already.

"i don't know if it works, but you guys have to die somehow." zhongli said, i looked back at venti and he looked back at me again as zhongli kept talking. "in the other dimension," he started, "if you die there the reality won't exist anymore, and you'll be back to the real world." i didn't know how to feel about this; there were so many possible outcomes, so many things that could go wrong, i didn't want to risk it all. venti and i were staring at each other blankly.

venti shrugged to me and then spoke. "it's worth a shot." i wanted to agree with him, but i couldn't bring myself to. "but what if something bad happens." i replied sharply, my tone then got a little softer with my next sentence. "what if i loose you.." "you won't." venti replied, putting his hand on mine. "how do you know.." "i just do. trust me." he said, looking at me with soft eyes, i couldn't say no to that. i sighed. "okay."

we went back to sleep and entered the dimension, it was still raining and we just barely had our shelter still. "the best way for us to die and to die together is.." i made hand signals so he would know i was talking about killing eachother and he understood. after we did i was in a dark place, it was just pitch black, just an endless abyss.

i looked around but i saw nothing, i looked to the ground and it was water, i was walking on water. i walked forward and then saw a mirror; i moved my arm up and watched it move in the mirror, but something felt off. i touched the mirror and my hand went through, i walked through it and then saw light, i squinted my eyes because it was bright. the whole room was white, and there was a chair in the middle, someone was sitting in it. i walked up to the chair; it was a tall, muscular woman. "xiao." she said, her voice strong and powerful. "you know my name?" "of course i do, i know everything about you."

venti's pov:
when me and xiao died in the alternet dimension i was in a pitch black abyss, no sign of light. the ground i walked on was water and i bumped into a door, yelping before i rubbed my head. i opened the door and the room was filled with mirrors, except they showed a different me.

there was an older version of myself, another was me as a child, one didn't have a reflection at all, one was me but i had scars, there was a version with me, but xiao was next to it. i walked up to the one with me and xiao then looked at it, words appeared that read "you and xiao will live a happy life with nothing standing in the way between your love" i turned towards the other mirrors and looked at them, they showed my fate. the mirror of me with the scars said "you will be faced with many challenges, but nothing can break you" it's clear what i want to choose, but i don't know if i'm choosing the right one. 'i wish xiao was here to help me' i thought, looking at the mirrors once more.

xiao's pov:
"you wish to hear about your mother, right little one?"
xiao looked up at the woman, her hair was covering her eyes. "yes." i replied, i don't know how she knew that but i didn't want to ask questions. "very pretty lady she is." the woman said with a chuckle. "she had a big heart and was welcoming, she loved everyone." xiao gave her a look, a suspicious look. zhongli said she wasn't very nice and welcoming to him. "is there something wrong?" "you're lying."

"you dare call me a liar?!" the woman snapped. "you know, i was thinking about letting you go back, but i'm going to make you stay." it was like a needle struck me in my heart, i started thinking about venti. "no! i'm sorry!" the woman scoffed then continued, "she was generous and kind to everyone.. everyone that treated her with respect." she added. i was a little hesitant to ask this, but i did anyway. "and what happened to people that didn't treat her either respect..?" "they got treated like the trash they were." i thought about that for a second, she treated them like trash.

venti's pov:
as if the mirrors could read my mind one started glowing, practically begging me to choose it. i stepped forward and the mirror transported me to a place, it looked like my house. 'i must be awake' i thought. something felt off, i felt a strange stirring in my stomach. when i walked outside i was in an abyss of light and a voice said, "venti you've made it. you chose the right path, you are free to go home." i smiled and felt a sense of relief wash over me. 'i can go home' i said to myself.

xiao's pov:
"do you wish to know more?" i shook my head. "is venti okay?" i asked, venti was probably safe but i couldn't help but worry about him. "venti is alright." i sighed, feeling reassured. "do you wish to join him?" i tried to contain my excitement. "yes." i was transported back to the real world, venti sitting next to me and zhongli standing over us. "we did it." venti said with a smile. "we did it.." i repeated, glad to be back.
