What if they were never able to beat Haughtington? What if they had gotten captured and dragged into birdies gym? This is how I (pictured) think things would end up if Jana couldn't fight this waging war between Wolfblood and humans and she comes instead to pick a side...

He grunts as he's pushed into the room by the two male men. He almost wants to growl at them, but you can't blame him, the thing in his back hurt, like a lot.
He then flinches when they shut the door. The sound hitting his ears in loud echoing vibrations. And it all the more confused him, that through that ruckus and chaos to get him to come into this room (which he asked for by the way) the red head had not once looked in his direction.
Instead she'd been all the more focused on pulling a white t-shirt over her shoulders. The room was mostly empty. A bed set in the middle of the two walls and a window above her head that shone a nice setting of moon light landing directly at her. And on moons like that it would be nice to be running free and wild.
Paws hitting dew morning grass or the crunch of leaves in the night, birds above soaring with the clouds and the trees directing their path. No, here they are, trapped. No longer a pack. They were caged...
The raven head lets himself walk in more and sits next to his alpha, silently. Looking at her, he sees that her gaze led to the small window. Her gaze distant, almost dead. He also copies her movement, looking at it too. The two in utter silence as the outside world is more mostly noisy and lively with movement.
After a minute, Matei looks at the space between them and sees her small hand laying softy on the bed white sheets. He hesitates for a bit before taking her hand in his. Smiling at the comparison. Matei soon grows concern when a shift in motion caught his sight when Jana looks at their joined hands then turns away. A sniffle heard right after.
''Jana?...'' he calls out to her. The silence is beginning to haunt him, but she answers back. ''Matei... I-'' her head slowly turns to look at him, and the sight he gazes upon breaks his already fragile heart. Not being able to look upon the sad tears rolling down her soft cheeks any longer he pulls her into a quick hug. Pulling her in and wrapping his arms around the small of her back. Cautiously.
''This... this wasn't how everything was to turn out.'' he sighs as he squeezes his eyes shut in the embrace, her voice sounded so weak broken and sad, muffled by his own shirt, then he replied with, ''I- I know,'' he felt and heard her sob a little, her voice squeaked a little, ''I didn't mean for any of this to happen.''
''I know," it hurts him that she was hurting, it was practically killing him on the inside, ''I'm so sorry Matei,''
''I know,'' there's a slight pause and she begins pulling away slightly, still tugging unto him, eyes puffy as she stare at him. ''Did we- did we even do the right thing?''
''I-'' he cuts himself off, looking away from her, staring blankly at the wall. he knew what she meant by that. though he didn't know what to answer with. He instead pulls her back into his chest. ''I don't know,'' he finally answers, ''But you did all that you could do, you've helped everyone, one way or another-''
''Was it enough?'' she asked pushing away from him again. Matei couldn't hold back and soon enough his own set of tears were falling too. He made to lean his forehead atop hers, closing his eyes in sync with her brown ones. Just trying to bring as much comfort to his alpha.
''Everyone knows that you did something, the best you could, that you at least tried. You can't doubt that, Jana. And after today, no matter what happens, I'd still follow you anywhere and you'd still be my alpha, wolf or no wolf."
They cried themselves to sleep that night as Jana thanked him over and over. When he woke back up, morning light shone on his face and when he opened his eyes, every memory flashed back to Haughtington, the chips, the girl that lied on top of him, red hair shinning beautifully.
Matei smiled unconsciously at that last thought.
Closing his eyes, he thought about how life would be as a human, sure it was hard and not something anyone of them expected to accept but there did seem to be some advantages. Less chaos, hunters, dramas, stares, kidnapping and the list goes on, but the main one he wondered about mostly was if, this made Jana a little less busy, would he then somehow have a chance with her?
And soon enough he was swept back into oblivion.
