He was in the wild woods. Hands in his pockets as he walked with... purpose? An intention? He wasn't so sure anymore, but for one, he had this eerie feeling that he was searching for something. And he needed to find it. For whatever it may be, he strode on in one direction. -Don't you just love that band=3-
As the wind blew in the trees and the leaves beneath this moving feet crunched, he heard something or rather someone else among them. A voice. So familiar. Why was it familiar?
Matei heard the hushed whisper blow out in the wind. But once it called out a second time, he'd stopped his walk. Frozen in place as his heart began to race.
It was... "Jana?" he called out to a far away figure. But he knew it couldn't be just anyone with that redhead. And that's when his feet picked up swiftly from its still position with a new mission in mind. Catching up with the now running alpha. "Jana, wait!" he yelled, hoping for her to hear him. It seemed it fell on deaf ears as the two wolfbloods were now full on running.
He didn't know what had caused her to start running off like that, but he needed to reach her, needed to get to her, needed her away from any danger in the great unknowns. That's what pushed his wolf instincts to kick in and gain enough speed as he swerved through every tree the woods provided. He was right on her tail and he held a hand out to grab onto her, strain and tiredness visible on his face but he still pushed on through as he huffed long breaths.
So focused on at least touching her shoulder, he then... blacked out? No... it was dark. He opened his eyes, not sure when he'd closed them, or when he stopped chasing after his alpha. Matei hadn't even felt the least bit tired. As he examined his rather dark surroundings, one thing shone its way into the dark abyss.
A heavy weight on his arms, and when he glanced down, he's horrified, frozen and paralyzed with so many emotions. Suddenly, things felt overwhleming, felt too much and out of his control, he felt like screaming, crying, he felt fear, sadness, anger. He felt so many emotions rushing through. Even his wolf kept clawing at him and begging to be ser free. Because laying limply in his arms was his life, the love of his life, his mate, his wild wolfblood. Or was, whatever was left of her...
Her eyes were closed, her hair fell back, a hand on the floor but the other nestled closely next to Matei. And from her mouth came pouring blood. And Matei was drenched in the red liquid from the floor.
Tears flowed.
One sob, two sobs then three.
He began to shake her lightly, "Jana." The words died on his lips. And he shook her a little firmer this time. "Jana- you- y-you have to wake up..." He pleaded, hoping by any miracle, the already dead girl would come back. He needed her to come back. Shaking a little rougher this time, upset through his annoying wet tears, he shouted at the face below him, "Wake up!"
"You need to wake up!" Then he screamed in agony. "WAKE UP!" Then snap. He shot up in bed. Breaths are coming out ragged and uncontrolled, eyes wide and finally awake. When realization hit him.
"Yo mate. Matei?" He gasped at the sound of his name. Snapping his head up to the sound of the voice, he realized it was TJ. Standing next to his bottom bunk. That's right, he's at the Cirpriani' residence. He looked away trying to form words. "I-uh... I- just..." but he couldn't.
He swept his feet off the bed, making them hang off from the side as TJ came to sit next to him. Still giving him space. And boy did he need it.
He could feel sweat racing down from his forehead and even began to drench the neck of his shirt. He could feel that his breathing was coming to a slow, but that didn't stop his heart rate nor the tears that he so tried to keep down. Until TJ spoke again. "Another one of 'em eh?" Matei simply shook his head. Folding his shaking hands clasped together in his lap, his head held down, and he felt embarrassed.
"It was the same nightmare. But this one felt-"
"Real?"
"Yeah." Of course TJ would know. He's the one who kept waking up the dark skinned wolfblood almost every night because of these silly nightmares. And even though TJ told him countless times that it was okay, after simply telling him that he was the one telling him to wake up, Matei would still apologize over and over again. "I just can't anymore- I don't know how to-" Then he broke.
The dam he built up all this time came crashing and it all felt embarrassing and childish. Matei let the surprise vanish as his hands came around TJ's back. Since he wasn't one for physical touch but he really needed this. As he cried into the boy's shoulder, TJ began to speak again softly, while rubbing smooth circles on his friends back. "You know Matei we'll get her back. Don't let these night terrors get to ya buddy. We'll get her back. I promise."
He cried even harder at his words if that were even possible. Then, thinking to himself, he wondered how he would know, how was he so sure about getting their alpha back? How could he have so much filled hope after all this time? When it seemed like the universe proved them wrong multiple times. And they still hadn't given up. But he believed TJ. Believe they'd save her. No matter the cost. He trusted every word his pack mate said and held on tightly to them.
If TJ could have hope, he'd have faith.
And, though small, a weight lifted from his tensed houlders. A small sense of freedom. And after a few, they were both swept off into oblivion. A sleep into a dreamless night. With the thought of saving Jana.
