Spike and Butch were indeed quite earnest. It seemed that God had created those two hellions expressly for making Alan and Terry's life a living-breathing-hell-on-earth.
Like all tiny freshmen, it seemed the girls were invisible to the teachers—but the natural prey of bullies.
Bambi and Thumper were all the rage by the end of the second week. Every guy and gal just had to join in the fun. If either was ever outside of arm's reach of the other, he received such tasteful reminders as a painful thump in the chest or rude elbow to the gut.
