Chapter 60: Movie Date with the Sharmas

A few days after the vibrant Mehendi ceremony, Aashna and Virat were invited by their good friends, Rohit and Ritika Sharma, for a casual movie night at their place. They were eager for some downtime and the chance to catch up with the Sharmas, who were like extended family to them.

Kiara was especially excited, knowing she would get to play with Samaira, Rohit and Ritika’s daughter, who was around her age. The anticipation of the evening brought a smile to everyone’s face.

As they arrived at the Sharmas' cozy home, they were warmly welcomed by Rohit and Ritika.

“Aashna, Virat! Great to see you both!” Rohit exclaimed, giving them each a hug. “And hey there, Kiki! Ready for some fun?”

Kiara nodded enthusiastically. “Yes, Uncle Ro! Where’s Samaira?”

“She’s in the playroom, waiting for you,” Ritika said, smiling. “Go on and join her.”

Kiara dashed off, leaving the adults to settle into the living room. The space was inviting, with a large sectional sofa facing a big screen TV, and a table filled with snacks.

“We’ve got all your favorites,” Ritika said, gesturing to the assortment of chips, popcorn, and drinks. “Make yourselves at home.”

Aashna and Virat sank into the plush sofa, grateful for the chance to relax. “This is perfect,” Aashna said, grabbing a handful of popcorn. “We needed a break after all the wedding prep.”

“I can imagine,” Rohit replied, handing Virat a drink. “You guys have been busy. But it’s all going to be worth it.”

“So, what’s on the movie menu tonight?” Virat asked, looking at the stack of DVDs and streaming options.

Ritika grinned. “We’ve got a mix of everything. But we thought we’d start with something light and funny. How about ‘3 Idiots’? It’s a classic and always good for a laugh.”

“Sounds perfect,” Aashna agreed. “Let’s do it.”

As the movie started, they all settled in, enjoying the familiar humor and heartwarming moments. Laughter filled the room as they watched the antics of the characters on screen. It felt good to unwind and share these moments with close friends.

During the intermission, they took a break to stretch and grab more snacks. Kiara and Samaira emerged from the playroom, giggling and carrying their toys.

“Mommy, can we watch too?” Kiara asked, her eyes shining with excitement.

“Of course, sweetheart,” Aashna replied, lifting Kiara onto her lap. “You can sit with us.”

The second half of the movie was just as enjoyable, with the kids adding their own commentary and laughter. It reminded Aashna and Virat of how important it was to make time for these simple, joyful moments amid the chaos of their busy lives.

As the movie ended, Rohit switched off the TV and turned to his friends. “So, what’s next on the agenda for the wedding?”

Aashna sighed happily. “We’ve got the sangeet coming up. Lots of dance rehearsals and last-minute preparations. But we’re almost there.”

Ritika nodded. “If you need any help, just let us know. We’re here for you.”

“Thanks, Rits,” Virat said, smiling. “We might take you up on that offer.”

They spent the rest of the evening chatting and catching up, sharing stories and laughing together. The kids eventually fell asleep, exhausted from their playtime and the excitement of the evening.

As the night drew to a close, Aashna and Virat thanked the Sharmas for a wonderful evening. “This was exactly what we needed,” Aashna said, giving Ritika a hug. “Thanks for having us.”

“Anytime,” Ritika replied. “We should do this more often.”

“We definitely should,” Rohit agreed. “Good friends, good movies, and good times.”

As they drove home, Kiara sleeping soundly in the backseat, Aashna felt a deep sense of contentment. The movie night had been a perfect reminder of the importance of friendship and taking time to relax and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

“Tonight was great,” Aashna said, glancing at Virat. “We should have more evenings like this.”

“Absolutely,” Virat agreed, reaching over to hold her hand. “It’s moments like these that make everything worthwhile.”

Back at home, they carefully carried Kiara to her bed, tucking her in gently. As they settled into their own bed, Aashna snuggled up to Virat, feeling grateful for the life they were building together.

“Good night, Virat,” she whispered.

“Good night, Aashna,” he replied, kissing her forehead. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” Aashna said, closing her eyes with a smile.

As they drifted off to sleep, they knew that no matter how busy life got, they would always make time for each other and the people who mattered most. And with the wedding just around the corner, they looked forward to creating even more beautiful memories together.
