Chapter 66: Celebrating the Win and Facing Farewells

The day of the India versus South Africa T20 final had finally arrived. The stadium was buzzing with excitement as fans filled the stands, waving flags and cheering for their favorite team. Aashna sat in the VIP section with Kiara on her lap, surrounded by the families of the players. The anticipation was palpable.

Virat had been under immense pressure lately. Despite his stellar career, his recent performance had been scrutinized, with many doubting his ability to lead the team to victory. Aashna knew how much this match meant to him, especially as it marked the end of an era with the retirement of legends like Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid.

As the game progressed, it was clear that the match was going to be a nail-biter. The Indian team had put up a decent score, but the South African team was no pushover. Virat, though not making many runs, stood like a rock, providing support and ensuring the team held their nerve.

In the final overs, with the match hanging in the balance, Virat's strategic field placements and calm demeanor were crucial. The stadium erupted in cheers as India clinched a thrilling victory. Fireworks lit up the sky, and the team rushed onto the field, hugging each other and celebrating their hard-earned win.

Aashna watched with pride as Virat embraced his teammates, a broad smile on his face. She felt tears prick her eyes, overwhelmed with emotion. This win was not just about the match; it was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unwavering spirit of the team.

As the celebrations continued on the field, Aashna's attention was drawn to Kiara, who was looking around with a worried expression. "Mama, why is Rohit chachu and  Harry chachu crying?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern.

Aashna smiled gently, brushing a tear from her cheek. "They're happy tears, sweetheart. They've worked very hard and it's a big moment for them. Sometimes, when we feel very happy or sad, we cry."

Kiara's brow furrowed in confusion. "But who will hug them and make them feel better?"

Aashna chuckled softly, touched by her daughter's innocence. "Their families and friends are there to hug them and share their happiness and tears. Just like how we hug you when you're happy or sad."

Kiara seemed to think about this for a moment before nodding solemnly. "Okay, Mama. But can I give them a hug too?"

Aashna's heart melted at her daughter's kindness. "Of course, baby. I'm sure they'd love that."

As the post-match ceremony began, Virat was called up to give a speech. He spoke with passion and gratitude, thanking his teammates, coaches, and fans for their unwavering support. When he mentioned the retirement of Rohit and Dravid, his voice wavered, and Aashna could see the deep bond he shared with them.

"These legends have taught us what it means to be a team," Virat said, his voice filled with emotion. "Their dedication and love for the game will continue to inspire us. We will miss them, but their legacy will live on."

The crowd erupted in applause, and Aashna felt a lump in her throat. She glanced over at Rohit and Dravid, who were standing with their families, their eyes glistening with tears. The significance of the moment was not lost on anyone.

After the ceremony, Aashna and Kiara made their way down to the field. Kiara ran ahead, her little arms outstretched as she approached Rohit and Hardik. "Ro chachuuu, hardik chachuuu, don't cry! I'm here to give you a hug!"

Rohit and Hardik both knelt down, their faces lighting up with smiles as they enveloped Kiara in a warm embrace. "Thank you, little one," Rohit said, his voice thick with emotion. "You're our little sunshine."

Virat walked over, his eyes meeting Aashna's. They shared a silent moment of understanding and love. He reached out and pulled her into a tight hug, whispering, "I couldn't have done this without you."

Aashna's eyes filled with tears as she hugged him back. "I'm so proud of you, Virat. You've been amazing."

As the team gathered for a group photo, Aashna stood beside Virat, Kiara in her arms. It was a bittersweet moment, filled with both joy and the realization that an era was ending. But as she looked around at the smiling faces of the team and their families, she knew that they were all part of something special.

That night, as they drove home, Kiara fell asleep in the backseat, clutching her favorite stuffed animal. Aashna glanced over at Virat, who was driving with a contented smile on his face.

"Today was perfect," Aashna said softly, reaching over to squeeze his hand.

Virat smiled, his eyes filled with love. "It was, thanks to you. Here's to many more perfect days together."

Aashna leaned back in her seat, feeling a deep sense of peace. She knew that whatever the future held, they would face it together, as a family.
