I follow Adrian and Eddie through the front doors of school. As I glance around at my fellow students, I can gather that they are all just as tired as I am.
The three of us part in the hallway to go to our lockers. When I reach mine, I just stand there, trying to remember my combination.
"Need some help?" Eddie asks, walking toward me, binder in hand.
"Ya, that would be great." I move to the side as Eddie opens my locker for me. "Thanks," I mumble as I open the door and stuff my bag in.
"Tired?" He asks, leaning against the neighboring lockers.
I just nod. I wasn't about to tell him that the reason for me being so tired was Hunter. I stayed up really late talking to him, and didn't get much sleep.
"I'm going to go grab some breakfast in the cafe with Adrian, you wanna come?" I shut my locker and turn, smiling tiredly.
"No thanks," I reply.
Eddie shrugs and walks in the direction of Adrian's locker. I take my phone out of my sweater pocket and glance at the time. I still had 15 minutes before class starts.
I walk down the hallway, having to squish my way through the crowds of people. They are laughing and having a good time, catching up with each other. I make my way to the end of the hall and enter the girls bathroom.
I glance at myself in the mirror, before walking over to adjust my outfit. I was lazy this morning, so I threw on a burgundy hoodie and a pair of leggings. I paired my outfit with a pair of black combat boots. I decided to wear hoop earrings today, but they were bugging me as they kept getting caught in my hair. Sighing, I throw my head forward, gathering my hair together and tying it in a high ponytail.
Nodding to myself, I walk back to my locker and grab my binder. It's still early, but I walk to class anyway, figuring I have time to play on my phone before class starts.
Entering the room, I pick a seat near the window. The desks are in pairs, so I place my binder on the opposite desk to save Eddie a seat.
How's school? ~Skittles
I glance at the text and sigh.
It sucks. It also sucks that you got to sleep in...why does Rowell start tomorrow???
Because Rowell is better ;)
Eddie and a few other students walk in the room.
G2G, class it starting...
I place my phone back in my pocket, without checking if he replied.
Eddie finds me and sits himself down in the desk beside me. "They were serving breakfast sandwiches in the cafe."
Before I can reply, our teacher walks in the room.
She is fairly tall, with thick rimmed glasses and her dark brown hair in a neat bun. She stands at the front of the class, leaning against the board. "Welcome to Grade 12 English. My name is Ms. Palmer and I will be your teacher for second semester."
With that being said, Ms. Palmer walks to her desk and begins stapling papers. The familiar tune of the announcements comes on and we stand for the national anthem.
When it is finished, we sit down. Eddie pulls out a piece of blank paper, and we both start to doodle on it.
"Hello and welcome to another new and exiting year at Lakeview Academy!"
Eddie and I turn and roll our eyes at the high-pitched voice reading the announcements.
"This semester is filled with many new and exciting activities! Boys Varsity soccer tryouts are next Tuesday and Thursday after school...."
