Marshall's Grill was a chill place. Everyone at the diner was chill too. My kind of people.
There was this really cool girl, Avidia, that I instantly hit it off with when I started working here 2 years ago. To describe her in one word, she was bold.
She had long, wavy black hair and mahogany eyes. The mix made her look all the more cool.
Avidia was the kind of girl who never backed down from a dare. Last week she was dared to have a drinking contest with a random customer in his mid-twenties. Of course, we had to make sure no adults saw this.
She won.
Life was great.

I walk through the doors of work.
Scanning the area, I see a few of the regulars. Not many people were here yet as it was only 5:30. Most people come at 6.
I hopped over the bar and walk through the double doors that lead to the kitchen. I say hi to my manager, Jenna and some of the other employees as I walk through another door that leads to the staff room.
Avidia was sitting there eating a grilled cheese sandwich.
"On your break?" I ask, putting my coat in my locker.
"No" she replies, finishing her sandwich. She stands up and brushes the crumbs off the dark jeans. "But not many people were here so I just kind of left. Oh well."
We are wearing close to the same outfit. We both wear dark jeans, but she wears a pink, off the shoulder shirt that says 'you mad bro?' The writing is sparkly.
I roll my eyes. Her and her sparkles.
I wear a simple red off the shoulder shirt.
I pull my apron on and tie it in the back. Straitening my name tag, I turn around, smirking.
"I take it you're here until 9?" I ask, putting my dinner in the fridge.
"Ya, you?" She asks while humming a tune to a familiar song.
"Yup" I answer, making my way out the door. "I got to go. Unlike you, Jenna will care if I'm not doing anything."
I grab a notepad and pen from the kitchen and make my way out.
I notice a group of people my age sitting at a table.
I walk over to their table. There are 3 people sitting here. 1 boy and 2 girls.
The guy has dark brown, almost black hair with bright blue eyes. He was grinning at something one of the girls said.
"Can I take your order?" I ask looking at the group.
The girl sitting beside the guy was the one to reply. "We already ate, but can we get some drinks?" She had mid length, straight, light brown hair and pale blue eyes. She had a smile on her face.
"Ya, sure. What would you like?" I ask politely.
The guy speaks up, ordering for everyone. " Alexia," he says pointing at the brown haired girl, "will have a sprite, and Lynn," he says, pointing at the other girl, "will have a root beer."
The other girl, Lynn, has short blonde hair that is in a pixie cut and dark brown eyes that kind of looked black in the diner light.
"And I..." the guy pauses for added effect, "will have a beer."
He looks up at me "Oh, and by the way, my name is Darren."
I take a minute to study him. He looks like the kind of guy that thinks he can get away with anything.
