Kasey got out of the water really quickly.
"I'll check to see if he's out of the lake, you two swim around to see if you can find him," she said.
"Okay," I said, quickly swimming around and going underwater to see if he's down there.
I can't stand the thought of losing Andrew. I've taken care of him through everything. When he gets slapped or punched by dad, I would get him an ice pack and tell him he's going to be fine. I've tucked him in when its time for him to go to bed, and I've read him bedtime stories. He means everything to me. Of course, the lake isn't that deep where we went, and I've showed him how to swim. We haven't really gone swimming that much before because my dad wouldn't let us. He can be an asshole most of the time, well, really he was an asshole all the time, but I forgave him and I will not change my mind on that.
I went underwater and tried to hold my breath while I was swimming on the bottom of the lake. I finally got up from underwater, and I saw Uncle Jerry holding him trying to get him out of the lake.
"Good you found him!" I cried, swimming toward them.
Uncle Jerry knows how to do everything. He's taken lots of classes how to do things like survival, how to save someone's life, etc.
Basically, everything you can think of he knows how to do. That's one reason why I love him.
Uncle Jerry brought him to the side of the lake. Andrew looked pale as a ghost.
"What happened to him?" Kasey asked, running towards us.
Jerry was doing CPR on him, so he couldn't answer the question.
"It looks like he hit his head, it's bleeding. Wow! Did he hit his head when he jumped in. Is there rocks in that lake?" I told her.
"There shouldn't be," Kasey said.
She walked over to where they jumped. She looked very close in the water. She noticed something gray in the water.
"It looks like there's a big rock right there," Kasey said, pointing to the gray area.
I didn't pay attention to her, I was paying attention to Andrew. I couldn't stand the fact that he could've died.
The first thing Uncle Jerry did was check his heart rate.
"His heart is not beating very fast!" Uncle Jerry said.
He pushed on his chest as many times as he needed to.
All I could do was look at Andrew's face. His pale, cold face. All I could do was let out a single tear.
Kasey walked back to the scene. She didn't say anything. I could tell she felt really bad. Her face had this face that looked like she cared so much about Andrew, even though she just met him not too long ago.
Then, Uncle Jerry leaned Andrew's head back. He breathed in his mouth. And after he did that, he pushed on his chest again. He repeated that process until Andrew finally spit up water.
I gasped and sighed a sigh of relief.
"Thank god your okay," I said, with a smile on my face.
I hugged him.
"Ouch, my head hurts," Andrew said, sounding like he was out of breath.
"Here, let me check your head," I told him.
I pulled his hair back where he had blood on. I noticed he bad a pretty bad cut.
"Do you think he needs checked out?" I asked Uncle Jerry.
Jerry checked the spot.
"Umm.. Yeah, we should probably take him to a hospital, he might need stitches and he might have a concussion."
"Okay, I'm going to get his shirt," I said.
I ran to get his shirt and put it on him carefully. Uncle Jerry picked him up and carried him all the way to the car about a mile straight. He set him in the front seat. Me and Kasey sat in the same spots as we did coming here.
I was kind of worried what will be wrong with Andrew. That spot looked pretty bad, but it wasn't that high of a jump from the edge of the lake. It wasn't like a cliff, so it probably isn't that bad, the spot where we jumped was probably about a couple feet high though.
It took quite a long time to get to the hospital. We were all the way down by the lake, which is way out of town. When we got there, Jerry picked the first parking spot he could find. He parked the car, then, went to the other side of the car to pick up Andrew. We all got out of the car quickly. We all care so much about Andrew. Even if he just had a cut, we will always try to make sure he gets it fixed as quickly as possible.
We ran to the ER.
"My nephew jumped into the lake and hit his head on a rock!" Uncle Jerry told the first lady he saw that worked there.
"We'll get him checked out immediately!" She replied.
She brought a wheel chair, and Uncle Jerry sat him in it.
"Wait in the waiting room, and we'll do everything we can," she told Jerry.
"Okay, thanks," said Uncle Jerry.
She wheeled him through a door. We all walked to the waiting room. I got a little more calm because I loved the thought that Andrew was taken immediately. That is the best thing I've heard all day. Or years.
Through all the time we waited for a doctor, we were all silent. Then, I broke the silence.
"Do you think Andrew will have a concussion?" I asked Uncle Jerry.
He looked at me with a calm face.
"I think he'll be fine, even if he does have a concussion, he'll get better. And we might have to stay here for a long time. Days even," He told me.
We finally see a doctor walking toward us. We all stand up.
"Hello, Mr?-"
"Grey," Jerry reassured.
"Mr. Grey, Andrew is doing fine, we had to stitch up his head. And we ran some tests, and he does have a concussion, we really want him to stay a night to see if he'll be alright."
"Okay, that's fine."
"Come, I'll bring you to his room," the doctor said.
He brought us to a room on the same floor. Andrew was laying on the bed sleeping.
"He'll probably sleep a really long time. People with concussions usually sleep a little longer than usual," the doctor told all of us.
"That's fine, we'll stay as long as you need us," Jerry told the doctor.
The doctor left the room. Me, Kasey, and Uncle Jerry sat in chairs that are sitting beside the bed. I just looked at Andrew.
"Why don't we watch some TV," said Uncle Jerry.
"That's fine," said Kasey.
He turned the TV on and turned it to the news channel. I didn't really care what was on. I just started watching it. Sitting there quietly.
