We buried Andrew in Grandview Cemetery. We had us a decent sized gravestone made for us. Dad makes a good amount of money from his job. I'm so glad we didn't cremate him. I plan on visiting his grave a lot. I plan on being the one to change his flowers.
Me, Kasey, and dad stood in front of his grave. I looked at his named on the gravestone. His name was in the prettiest cursive there was. I looked at the dates.
I had roses in my hand. Dad had a vase in his hands. He handed me the case, and I put the roses in it. The bottom of the gravestone had a little area to put the vase. That's where I set it.
Afterwards, we all just stood there looking at the gravestone. It was so peaceful after everyone left. All quiet.
I had heard that it was very peaceful to be in a cemetery, but I've never actually gone to one until now.
I have more freedom now that Jerry is my dad. I love it!
I'm turning 16 next week. I'm thinking of studying for my permit test when I get home. Dad is going to teach me how to drive.
"Let's go home," I blurted.
"Okay," dad said.
We all walked to the truck. Me and Kasey sat in the back seat. We wanted to sit next to each other. Hold each other's hand.
I have never been so happy in my life. Right now, I've got everything I've ever wanted. It all feels right.
Dad drove out of the cemetery. We were going down the road when I broke all the silence of the car ride.
"We should see a movie!"
"Yeah, I heard the new maze runner movie is out. We should see it," Kasey replied.
"Okay, that sounds awesome, let's go!" Dad said.
We came to a stop light. My mind drifted off. It became silent again.
I felt the car start to move.
All of a sudden, I had a strange feeling. I looked out the windows thinking something was going to happen.
I think everyone had their seat belts on. I checked just in case.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I wanted to rest them for a little while.
I felt a big thump, and we ran right into a tree.
I opened my eyes to see my arm with the bone sticking out.
