(Taehyung's POV)

The sun was just beginning its lazy ascent, casting a warm glow over the school grounds as we gathered for our field trip. Where were we headed? To a museum, followed by a picnic in some park. The whole day promised a mix of dusty exhibits and forced enthusiasm over pre-packed sandwiches. It wasn't exactly the adventure of my dreams, but anything to break the monotony of school was welcome.

Our grade twelve students were herded into lines like cattle, the teachers barking orders to stay in our groups. Naturally, chaos ensued as everyone jostled to sit with their friends. Ignoring the strict formation, I slipped out of my class II line and merged seamlessly into the class III queue, joining Jimin. Jungkook, being in grade eleven, was absent from this field trip, leaving just the two of us to navigate the day.

As we made our way to the buses, I couldn't help but notice Y/N in the girls' line. She stood out, even in her usual disheveled state. Her friend, whose name I vaguely remembered, was practically glowing with energy and excitement. In stark contrast, Y/N looked as if she had crawled out of a toxic waste can, her expression a perpetual mix of indifference and mild irritation. It was her signature look – perpetually zoned out, as if she were miles away, lost in her own world.

"Hey, why are you zoned out again?" Jimin's voice snapped me back to reality.

"I'm not!" I snapped back, a bit too defensively. We boarded the bus, maneuvering towards the coveted back seats – the realm of choice for those who wanted to talk, joke, and generally avoid the teacher's watchful eye. We claimed two seats near the rear, settling in for what promised to be a long ride.

Just as I was about to relax, I saw Y/N and her friend...Minji? Scanning the rows for empty spots. To my horror, Jimin's face lit up with a mischievous grin. I knew that look all too well. He was up to something.

I don't like his brain.

Before I could stop him, he waved them over. "Hey! Mi-hi, Y/N—come sit here, there are two empty spots next to us."

Oh so her name is Mi hi.

Y/N hesitated, her eyes narrowing slightly, but Mi-hi beamed and led the way. To my surprise and mild dismay, Mi-hi plopped down in the seat next to me, leaving Y/N to sit by the window. I felt a pang of frustration. This wasn't how I wanted the seating arrangement to go.

"Jimin," I began in a low warning tone, leaning closer to him. "I'm going to tell the hyungs about the maga—"

Jimin's hand flew over my mouth, silencing me instantly. "No!" he hissed, his eyes wide with panic.

I glared at him and, in a fit of irritation, licked his palm. He recoiled with a disgusted groan, wiping his hand on the side of his uniform. "Ew, Taehyung, that's gross!"

"Serves you right," I muttered, wiping my own mouth. Mi-hi was watching us with amusement, clearly entertained by our antics. Y/N, on the other hand, was already plugging in her headphones, retreating into her bubble.
