(Y/N's perspective)
My parents were out on a trip to attend some distant friend's wedding. Honestly, the thought of socializing with a bunch of strangers was my version of a nightmare. Thankfully, I got to stay home, and my brother Kiyoung was on the same page—he'd rather stay home and play video games while I'd prefer to bury myself in a good book.
The house was peaceful, filled only with the soft hum of the ceiling fan and the occasional chirping of birds outside. That tranquility was shattered when Kiyoung barged into my room, yelling, "HEY!"
"What?" I barked back, not even bothering to lift my head from my pillow.
"I'm going to go boxing with Jungkook. While I'm gone, do the dishes, water the plants, take out the trash, and fold the laundry, okay?" he commanded, standing in the doorway with all the authority of an older sibling who knows you can't say no.
"Am I your maid or something?" I questioned, glaring at him from my cozy nest of blankets.
"Do you want dinner tonight?" he threatened, arching an eyebrow in a challenge.
"Fine..." I groaned, rolling off the bed and onto the floor in a dramatic display of resignation. I lay there for a moment, contemplating whether I could crawl my way through the list of chores.
After dragging myself to the kitchen to start on the dishes, my phone buzzed with a message. I pulled it out and saw it was from Taehyung.
Taehyung:You're home alone, right?
Me:How'd you know?
Taehyung:You told me your parents left this morning, and Kook just left to go box with your brother. Weren't they fighting over food yesterday?
I couldn't help but smile at the memory. Yesterday, during one of their impromptu hangouts, Kiyoung and Jungkook had nearly come to blows over the last slice of pizza. It was like watching two wolves fight over a bone—ridiculously competitive and utterly pointless since they both knew I'd eat it if they didn't.
Me:Yeah, they almost killed each other over it. Now, I'm stuck with chores because Kiyoung's using dinner as leverage.
Taehyung:That's rough. Want some help? I can sneak over once I'm done with my practice.
The idea of Taehyung sneaking over immediately brightened my mood. Just thinking about him offering to help with something as mundane as chores made me feel a little less alone and a lot more special.
Me:You don't have to, but if you want to keep me company, I won't say no.
Taehyung:Alright, I'll be there in about an hour. Just don't let your brother find out, or he'll have my head.
