Y/n's POV
"Mmmm," I groan as I attempted to open my eyes, and a headache struck me.
"You are awake!" my mother exclaimed loudly and ran to the door. "Henry! Peter! Make haste!"
"What is it, dear?" my father asked and entered the room to see that I was awake. "Y/n, my beautiful daughter. It is good to see you awake."
"It is good to know that I am not dead," I murmur jokingly.
"Do you remember anything?" Henry questioned.
"I remember riding in the park. And the fall," I utter and cringe as the memory struck me. "I am so, so sorry. I did not mean to put any of you through any pain."
"You must rest, dear," my mother instructed. "Do not strain yourself."
"Did.....did Lord Bridgerton come to see me?" I wonder.
Henry nodded. "He did. Everyday. And every other he brought you new flowers. Look. The room is full of them."
"Lillies," I notice. "My favorite. He's the only one who knows that."
"He rescued you in the park. Gallantly, in fact. He brought you back here several days ago," my mother explained. "Shall I call for him?"
"No. I must rest," I claim as I could feel my strength fading. "Perhaps later."
"Okay. We will leave you to it then," my father said.
............................................
"Anthony," I breathe out when the man entered my room. "Hello. I uh, I didn't know my mother called upon you."
"I rushed over at once when I heard the news," Anthony admitted. "I'm glad to see you're awake."
"I hear you rescued me," I bring up. "And you brought me home safe."
"I did," Anthony confirmed. "I also brought you more flowers, although you probably already have enough lillies. Perhaps I shall bring tulips next time? Or maybe daffodils?"
"The lillies are wonderful," I thank him. "They are beautiful. I cannot believe you remembered my favorite flower after all this time."
"When we were children, you always came to our garden to see the flowers," Anthony recalled. "You loved the variety and all of the colors. But what you loved looking at the most were the lillies. They were clearly the best flower we grew."
"I had my own garden of them out in the country," I share with him. "But I'm afraid there isn't space to plant many here in the city."
"I am certain you will have the means to plant as many lillies as you'd like in the future," Anthony told me.
I studied Anthony closely. "Was there something else?"
"Before you ran off, I was going to apologize," Anthony revealed. "You deserved so much more than that. I took liberties. I...I did not want it to happen like that, so...I came to apologize."
"Apology accepted," I relay to him. "But only because you bought me all these flowers."
"Y/n!" my mother called out. "The doctor is here to have a look at you!"
"I should get going then," Anthony spoke and took my hand, placing a kiss on the back of it. "I hope you feel better soon. Maybe I can come by again another time?"
"I would like that very much," I confess.
Later that night, I was sitting on the cushion near my window sill, staring out at the night sky. Stars lit up the black abyss that was the sky, and the moon glowed softly, providing a soft light over the town. I was feeling much better, but after my conversation with Anthony earlier, I felt like much was unsaid. So, I swept on my robe and slippers and snuck out of the house to go visit him in the hopes that we could resume our conversation. When I knocked on the door, a footman answered it.
