Chapter 53 - Safe

As sera sat with Maddison, looking at old photos and smiling as she listened to stories of her life. There was a knock on the door. Maddison got up to answer. "I know that Sera is here.. I need to see her.."

"Look, she is not in a good place... we are trying to get her to understand who she is...

"Then who better to be around than her real father!" Marcus said.

Maddison sighed. "You can't just walk in here...

It fell on deaf ears as he just walked inside. He stopped and looked at her sitting on the sofa. "Sera?." He said.

"Who are you!." She said, now so scared of her own shadow after everything that had happened. She shrunk back into the sofa and reached for Maddison's hand.

"Sera.. I'm your dad...

She liked confused. "But, Romeo..."

"Romeo is your step father... he raised you but you're mine.. and I can protect you and would have already protected you if I had had the chance..."

"What do you mean, had the chance?."

Maddison looked at her. "Sera he is your real father... Romeo stopped him from coming near you..

Sera grew anxious, she began to have a panic attack. "I feel sick... I feel sick..." she said over and over, it was getting much harder for her to understand and trust anyone.
Devon had really done a number on her, she was scared of everyone and everything. She had been gang raped, raped by a man who was supposed to be her security, beaten to what should have been her death, her trust was gone, she felt like a zombie, or even a small child so fragile and vulnerable.

Marcus crouched in front of her. He started to show her photos. She smiled as she saw a woman in the pictures. "That was your mama.. who I loved very much.." he said.

She started to ease as he showed her and told her things which made more sense than that of anything she had heard so far. Maddison could see how much she relaxed with Marcus.
"Sera come with me, I can and will protect you... we can get a DNA test so you can be sure I'm not lying to you... Romeo had lied to you, your whole life... he killed your mama because of her affair with me, he then took you and kept you from me, he had no right to do that.." he told her with tears in his eyes. "I came back for you and you were told this before you lost your memory... we met too.."

"I know we did, I can feel it.." she said.
She stood up. "Maddison.. I don't feel safe here, this happened to me because of Reece... it could happen again..

"Sera what are you saying!."

"I'm leaving with Marcus... I'm not leaving a forwarding address either...

"And what about Cassius.." Maddison said desperately trying to keep her there as she pressed to call Romeo and left it on so he could hear everything.

Sera thought about Cassius. "I don't know him.. I tried to feel a bond but I just can't.. he's better off here with his father.. he has all that he needs and did well without me for 6 months... I have to do this.. I am not going to get better here.." she said with honesty. She took her coat and headed to the door with Marcus,

"Sera don't do this...

"I have to.." she replied and walked out getting into Marcus's car and taking off.

Romeo had heard the whole conversation while Reece was collecting an array of weapons from one of his warehouses.

Tears fell from his eyes, he punched the steering wheel again and again as he heard her walking out of his life. Marcus had won, he had a blank canvas with her now where he could really be her father.
"My baby... she's my baby." He said his tears falling,

He wiped his eyes as he saw Reece emerging from the warehouse, Reece put the weapons in the trunk and got in the car. He looked at Romeo. "Sup?.. you look like shit.."

"She's gone..

"Who?."

"Sera... Marcus arrived and told her everything... she's gone man.. I've lost her, you've lost her...

Reece felt sick to the pit of his stomach. He had fought and fought for her and she just walked away. He was speechless. Then he looked at Romeo. "She took my son too?."

"No.. she left him... man, what am I gonna do, sera is my life.."

Reece just stared ahead gutted, hurt and angry. For him this wasn't over.....
