**3 YEARS LATER**
I was standing in the backyard as 8-year-old Faith ran around with some friends, 3-year-old Landon was sitting with Andy, and they were getting something to eat and I had my one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Reese Oliva Barber. She was a shock to Andy and me. I had gone off the pill, but she took her sweet time arriving.
I was so worried about having a girl and Faith being jealous, but she loved having a little sister more than I thought she would. She often tried to treat her like a baby doll and pick out all her outfits for me.
Right now, though we were hosting, along with Sarah's parents, a graduation party for Jacob and Sarah. Andy was a nervous wreck knowing that his oldest son was on his way to college. He was going to be going to Boston University, but he and Sarah were getting an apartment together off campus.
"Mama!" Reese said pulling me from my thoughts. I kissed her cheek and she giggled.
I walked into the party and Sarah reached for Reese as she reached for her.
"Reese cup!" She said and kissed her cheek and Reese laughed as Jacob started tickling her. I walked over and sat next to Andy, and he watched them with Reese.
"You know how when we had Landon and Sarah was holding him and I got worried?" Andy asked.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Well now they will be living together, we can't have them under our watchful eyes..." Andy said, and I started laughing.
"Andy...calm down please. They will not be having a kid anytime soon. They have their futures planned out and there is no baby included in those plans. They know about the struggles you had with Laurie and they won't do that to themselves." I said and Andy smiled.
"And you know all this because...?" Andy asked.
"They talked to me about it. They didn't want people to think it would happen just because they were moving in together. Jacob also said that you and I supplied the best birth control with Landon and Reese." I said and he laughed.
Landon crawled over Andy's lap and into mine. He wrapped his arms around my neck and hugged me.
"Love mommy." Landon said and I laughed and kissed his cheek.
"Mommy loves Landon too." I said and Andy smiled at both of us.
"GRANDPA!" Landon yelled as my parents walked in. I put him down and let him toddle over to my parents. He was met by my parents and the dog Stitch which loved Landon. He was in heaven now.
"So, I know this is Jacob's graduation party, but I was wanting to talk to you about something..." Andy said, and I looked at him.
"What's that?" I asked.
"Well as I told you a few weeks ago Lynne is looking to retire soon. She said it's time..." Andy trailed off.
"Yeah..." I said and he just took both of my hands.
"What if I ran for DA? I know it's an election and everything, but I have been thinking about it, Lynne said she would endorse me, and I just wanted to know what you thought?" Andy asked and I took a deep breath.
"You think you can handle it? I mean I know you won't be in court as much but it's a bigger workload as well." I said and he sighed.
"I know but honestly, I think this is the right move now. Jacob will be off to college, Faith is in school, Landon and Reese are still young enough to not even realize I'm not around all the time but with this job I may be able to be home earlier than I have been. Lynne always made sure she was." Andy rambled. I placed a hand over his mouth to shut him and he just looked at me.
"Andy, listen to me..." I said removing my hand, "If this is something you want to do you have mine and the kids support. Hell, you probably have Lilo and Stitch's support too." I said and Andy laughed at the last part.
"So, you're okay with this?" Andy asked and I nodded.
"I am. I love that you want to do this Andy. District Attorney Andrew Barber has a nice ring to it..." I said and slightly bit my lower lip. Andy noticed and raised his eyebrows.
"Excuse me Mrs. Barber, did that do something for you?" Andy asked and I nodded as I leaned in and passionately kissed him.
Once we broke apart, I barely moved my lips from Andy's, "I'm going to see if mom and dad can take all the small kids tonight. I need some alone time with my husband." I said since I knew Jacob would be out most of the night at a party.
"Yeah, we haven't had that recently." Andy said and I shook my head.
"Mom! Dad!" Jacob yelled rushing over to us.
"What's up buddy?" I asked and he handed Andy an envelope.
"I just checked the mail when I was saying bye to someone, and this was in the mailbox." Jacob said and Andy opened the letter. He read it over and showed it to me.
"Jacob! You got a year scholarship for academics! If you can keep your grades up." I said and hugged him.
"This is going to be amazing. Such an amazing year coming up." I added and Jacob looked between Andy and me. "Are you pregnant again?!" Jacob asked in a whispered and I snapped my head to look at him.
"Are you insane!? NO!" I answered causing Andy to laugh.
"So, I just told your mom, and I can tell you. Lynne is retiring and she is going to endorse me when I run for District Attorney." Andy said and Jacob smiled hugging his dad.
"That's amazing dad! You have my vote for sure!" Jacob said. "Hell, I will even campaign for you on campus." Jacob continued.
"Thanks bud." Andy said and Jacob rushed off to tell Sarah. I wrapped my arms around his waist and his went around me.
"This is going to be a busy year." I said and Andy nodded.
"But a good year."
"A good life." I said.
"A good future." Andy said leaning down and passionately kissing me not caring about the friends and family that were around.
